I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Toffee Social.
I called ahead and placed my order, clearly and carefully repeating it multiple times. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. After waiting longer than that, I sent someone inside, only to be told it would be another 20 minutes. When I called to follow up, the owner told me I had only placed the order 10 minutes priorâwhich was simply not true. I had already been waiting well over the original time, so hearing that was incredibly frustrating.
After waiting again, we were finally told the food was ready. But when my friendâwho had already paid and even left a tipâchecked the order, it was still wrong. My friend cannot have cheese due to an allergy, and we made that very clear multiple times. Despite that, the food still came out with cheese on it. At that point, it felt like we werenât being listened to at all.
Meanwhile, the rest of the food I ordered had been sitting there getting cold while we waited for them to fix a mistake that should have never happened in the first place.
What really upset me was how my friend was treated. While she was simply checking the food, a waitress questioned whether we had paid and said, âhmm letâs see,â while holding the receiptâin front of the entire restaurant. That was embarrassing, unnecessary, and completely out of line. Instead of focusing on fixing their mistake, the concern seemed to be whether we paid, which we already had.
Although they apologized, the overall experience was already frustrating enough, and that interaction made it worse.
Overall, this felt like a complete lack of attention, accountability, and respect for the customer. When someone takes the time to be clearâespecially about an allergyâyou expect to be heard. This was a disappointing experience from start to finish.

Iâve been to this place many times before and always left good tips, but tonight was by far the worst experience Iâve ever had. I forgot my ID one time, and instead of handling it respectfully, they refused to serve me. I understand the Massachusetts laws for drinking without proof of ID, Iâm 22 and have shown my ID to three different waitresses (2 out of 3 were present) prior to coming that one day. I started going there as soon as i turned 21 because it was my boyfriendâs favorite place to go with friends. For my 22nd i got all dolled up and headed over with a small group of friends and it simply went terrible. I took a sip of my boyfriendâs drink, and they went as far as to take his drink away, even though Iâve shown my ID here plenty of times in the past without issue.
One of the staff members (a white girl, thin hair) was extremely unprofessionalâshe started an argument with me, gave me attitude all night, and ultimately banned us. She was staring me down the entire time, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. She sat directly next to our table all night Literally watching over my friends and I. The food was just okay and still took 25 minutes to come out, and we only ordered two items. On top of that, the music was terrible, they didnât match the vibes with the music whatsoever.
The only positive thing I can say is that the atmosphere itself was calm, but the service completely ruined it. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, and this was the opposite. Without the black girl with dreads, this place would honestly be nothing. I will never be coming back after the way my friends and I were treated tonight. It was not needed to ban us i was already so disappointed with the service and how they treated us, i was never going to return. Being a black owned business I genuinely had such high hopes and expectations, the service was disgusting and just so awful.

The nicest local bar. I love going here for 1 drink because of their proximity. I end up staying for 2 hours because of the bartender and or staff. Or other customers start a conversation. Really nice place with great music and vibe and drinks and food. Thank you!
