We hired Paivas to cater our wedding last month. Two things people always remember at weddings are food and entertainment!! The chicken was dry and potatoes didn’t have much flavor. The major issue was the food was cold!! There were no warmers used to keep the food warm. When my mother in law emailed the owner to let them know the issues we had, WE were blamed. They said my husband opted out of having the food made at the venue (which was not true!! They never even gave us that option or we would have done that!) and said we took too long taking pictures. There were no heaters used to keep the food warm yet they claimed there was. I noticed that when we got up to get our food! I understand things happen, but to place blame on us is absurd! Not even an apology for the issues we had. They even expected us to take home the linens and coffee makers and drop them off the next day. I’ve had several people come to me after the wedding complaining about the food which is a huge disappointment since we raved about Paivas on how amazing they are!
Well, folks, I recently attended an event where a certain catering company provided the food. Let's just say, if you're on a diet, this might be your new go-to caterer! Here's my riveting one-star review for this culinary catastrophe:
The salmon? Surprisingly edible, but tragically overcooked. The chicken Mozambique? More like chicken Nosambique – unseasoned bleached chicken tenders drowning in what I can only describe as a French dressing imposter sauce. The only hint of color was the radioactive orange hue reminiscent of a certain president's tan. Nasty stuff.
The potatoes? Blah, with a side of that tan. At least they were marginally edible, I guess.
Now, the rice... oh, the horror! WHYYYYYY? It was a rice pudding wannabe, but a failed attempt at that. Overwatered, overcooked, and clumped together so badly, it required a knife to cut it. How a so-called professional cook could send this out into the world is beyond me. It's safe to say that if this catering company can't master rice, perhaps it's time to rethink their career choice or at least strike it off the menu.
At the end of the night, an entire tray of rice remained untouched, probably because it was haunted by the spirit of Gordon Ramsay shouting, "IT'S ROTTEN!" It's clear that this catering company isn't a fan of good food or taste buds in general. I'd only recommend them to my worst enemy or those seeking to test their gag reflex.
I truly hope the organizers didn't break the bank for this disaster, or they'll be drowning their sorrows in that sad, sad sauce. Let's hope Keith Lee never comes to Taunton to taste Portuguese food because he would denounce the entire cuisine based off this rice. Embarrassing for the company, and a major letdown for all the poor souls who had to endure this meal. Yuck indeed. I mean it bothered me enough I had to leave a comment.
The food from Paiva's is excellent (and plentiful)! And John was great at answering all our questions to make sure our company event went smoothly!

Paiva catering did the catering for our wedding a couple of months ago and everything (I got the chance to try) was fantastic and all the guests I’ve talked to said they thought everything was great as well! All the staff that came out were very friendly and did a great job too!
Paiva has catered a few family events for my family. The food was consistently spectacular. Compliments were made all night. If you need a caterer Paiva has to be at the top of the list. Professionalism, response times, and overall communication were just as good as the food. 10/10 experience.
