Really like this place. Food and drinks are great served on real dishes. People friendly. Folks look like they've been thrifting. And no wifi or cell signal so almost no device activity:-)

I wanted to love this place, but it just didn't happen. I love finding local coffee places that make a great chai latté. This was not it. My family and I went here on a busy Saturday morning. It was very loud. We were sitting at the table closest to the counter and we still didn't hear our name called when our order was ready. My chai latté tasted more like black tea then it did chai. Which if that is your thing you'll probably love it. The ratio of milk to tea was great. However, I enjoy more of the spices than the black tea. We ordered two Maple Toasts. They barely tasted like maple. It tasted more like sweetened toast with cinnamon on them. One of them was half burnt so that one tasted more like burnt toast. My husband ordered an Americano and was a little disappointed. The size of his cup was small and he didn't think it was very good. The staff was great. They were all kind and attentive. It seems like people love this place as it was very busy. I'm willing to try it again to see if I/we have a better experience.

What a pleasant place to get a cup of coffee. Service was friendly, the coffee was excellent and shop a pleasant place to hang out. I thought about deducting points for no wifi... but then I thought... "maybe they should get extra points for not having wifi..."

They have some really good food here but I’m not sure why it’s so overpriced. I got a 12 ounce coffee and a breakfast sandwich and it was $18. The coffee was three dollars so I guess the breakfast sandwich was $15 it’s good but I don’t think I would go back. It’s just too much money to spend on a quick stop.

This spot was a happy pleasant surprise. If you're looking for a hearty American breakfast, this is not your spot, and that is a very good thing. Instead of the usual truck stop or diner fare, Upper Bend offers a carefully curated selection of delicious alternatives and artful spins on the usual breakfast menu.I had a latte and maple toast. My hubs had the monkfish toast, and we split a slab of basque cheesecake because, well, we were feeling decadent for brekkies. The latte was excellent, bold and strong, but smooth. The maple toast was perfect, because it was simple: crisp crust, soft center, and a solid maple flavor that was pleasantly not sticky sweet. The monkfish toast was amazing, like a reimagined lox bagel. The bread, pickled onions and greens all brought different levels of crunch, with the cream cheese adding a slightly sour base and the monkfish bringing a buttery mouth-feel.I don't regret getting the basque cheesecake at all. It was delicious. The center was light and custardy, while the outer edge had a more spongy cake texture, almost like two desserts in one. And it was lightly sweetened, not the instant diabetes norm for cheesecakes these days. Perfect.I'll definitely be back to nibble my way through the rest of the menu.

I love this place. They have the best coffee and food! It's so nice inside. However the person I see always taking orders has been incredibly rude and unwelcoming. All the other staff are great!

The upper bend is an adorable coffee shop with a great brunch menu! The mapo Jo and the vegan scramble where delicious and unique. The chai was the best chai I've ever had in my whole life. If I was in the desert without water I would dream of this chai. The service was great, the guy who brought our food to us was soooo cute. The energy and aesthetic of this place is cool and a bit rustic but overall a clean look.

Food's quite good and unique. However the staff are some of the rudest people I've met. I don't know if they're being abused by the managers or whatnot but christ they ruin the otherwise pleasant atmosphere with their "you should feel bad for existing" attitude.

I went here to get some lunch and the menu is very limited and strange. I wanted a sandwich and ordered the vegan po boy called Mapo Jo. I'm not vegetarian but I enjoy vegetarian food so decided to get this. The woman who took my order only told me it was a vegan po boy, no other description! She could have cared less. This place has a very pretentious air to it,only hipsters need apply with tax it came to almost $13. The sandwich was very small with nothing else on the plate. The reading material was the New York Times newspaper but Turner's Falls is no NYC !! I can't recommend this as a lunch place they have very limited hours
