Third time came here. Ordered steamed egg with minced meat, fresh and soft taste. Fish fillet with double pepper with noodles, highly recommended if love spicy ?️ food. Cumin beef, good taste but a little bit too dry and some of them not 100% fresh, might not order again.

I visited this restaurant in 2005 or so, and it was great. Recently, in November of 2023 I went there and I was shocked. Dirty tables and floors, horrible plates (one dish was served in a huge metal bowl like the one we use to prep ingredients), unfriendly staff, mediocre food, and very expensive for the small portions they offer. To say that I was disappointed is to say nothing. Even the sign and the windows and doors look dirty and creepy. I wonder what happened to it. Better close or change owners and staff. Horrible and unbelievable

As someone who lived in China for 5 years and speaks the language a bit, I can be quite hard on Chinese restaurants in the US. Sei Bar delivers some of the best Chinese food I've ever had outside of China, and their Hunan style is so authentic and loaded with flavor. (Hunan Province is one of the places I lived). The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. I recommend the Chairman Mao Pork Belly, Cumin Lamb, and any of the stir fried greens like cabbage and AA Choy. If you want a small, quaint atmosphere and super authentic Chinese food, this is the place.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant, and as someone from Hunan, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to try Xiangcai cuisine for the first time. The presence of a map showcasing Changsha city on the table evoked a warm and welcoming feeling. The food at this place is outstanding, especially the spicy chicken gizzards and the fish dishes, which I thoroughly enjoyed. While the cauliflower dish was just okay and not something I’d recommend, the chicken gizzards were exceptional—chewy, well-seasoned, and with a pleasant level of spiciness. They paired wonderfully with rice, making for a satisfying meal. Another highlight is the unique Changsha shaomai, distinct from the shaomai you typically find in other Chinese restaurants. Unlike those that usually contain shrimp or meat, the Hunan shaomai is filled with seasoned sticky rice, creating a delightful twist. We also tried the two different pepper fish dishes, and we loved adding noodles to them. The noodles soaked up the delicious fresh broth, enhancing the overall taste and experience.Xiangcai湘菜 is one of the eight major Chinese cuisines, and I believe it deserves more attention. Compared to chuancai 川菜, it stands out with its spicy seasoning derived from fresh peppers, avoiding the numbing effect of chili peppers. If you’re a fan of Chinese food, I highly recommend embarking on a Xiangcai culinary adventure at this restaurant!

I have been a customer since 2017 and today I was so disappointed at the food and the service I received. They served me overcooked rice and undercooked meat which is a serious food safety problem! They tream me like They dont care and told me cooked pork is pink color, which is ridiculous. I was so disappointed and would never go back again.

As a native of Hunan, I would like to say that the level of this place is average in all aspects, and I do not strongly recommend it.

A hidden gem! Absolutely love this place. Almost everything we tried here was amazing. Special mention to quick fried lamb and fried boiled eggs. Chicken hot pot is great if you have a large party. Soy fried rice goes well with all the entrees.

Decided to check out this small place for takeout! Having been to China a few times (60+) I can honestly say this is very very authentic. Generous portions! If you like spice Sei Bar will not disappoint! Highly recommend! Will be back!

Went with my Chinese friend cause she wanted to go.We got the kidney, stir fried hard boiled eggs, chicken gizzard with sour long beans, and the fish filet (fillet? filet o' fish?).5 stars for just the eggs. That was my favorite. The chiles are spicy but also flavorful so it's kind of satisfying torture for someone who doesn't like spicy food like me.The fish fillets were awesome too with noodles and the pickled chilis. Not too spicy and for some reason the smell of the sauce reminded me of american breakfast, it smelled like pancakes/syrup/breakfast sausage or something but definitely didn't taste like it.I'm not too big on offal so didn't eat much of the kidney but my friend said it was good and she took the leftovers at bottom of plate home to stirfry with. The chicken gizzard was good too. The sour beans were...more sour than I expected. I was expecting just preserved/fermented but they were more of the funky sour fermentation which I'm not usually a fan of.I also liked that the waitress translated for me when my Chinese friend didn't :')

A true hidden gem for authentic Chinese cuisine in the North Shore. Please be aware, this is not your go-to take-out place for Orange Chicken. This is not your Chow Mien/Pu Pu Platter restaurant. This is authentic Hu Nan Cuisine which is known for its dry-spicy flavor. Love their pork belly dish, homemade La Rou and even the cold dishes. Fantastic service in my opinion.

Hi Business owner, do you know how many business had been "quarreled away" by the rude ponytail waitress in your Woburn Spicy Hunan Kitchen? It worthy an investigation.
