Shake Shack Wellesley

Shout out to Sterling who always gives great customer service. Currently, I've been getting the banana pudding milkshake, which I only found about 2 weeks ago. SO GOOD!! It's seasonal! Please move the end date from 11/3 to Thanksgiving, if possible. Get it while you can!

They always make really good burgers. The place was clean. The employees were super friendly. They brought the food to the table after we ordered it on a tablet. They had really big and nice bathrooms that are handicap accessible. They have a code on the door, but the door was open, so I don’t know if you need it. Normally, the place is handicap accessible. There is parking on the main street out front where there is a big giant parking lot in the back. We got the double hamburger and the cheese fries with the soda. You can also get a milkshake, but we didn’t get that this time that we went. The prices are Shake shack prices so I always think they’re a little high, but I did enjoy the burger.

So I have a form of cancer that means I need to avoid certain foods that are mast cell antagonists, otherwise I’ll go into anaphylactic shock, which, if you don’t know, can be fatal. Chocolate is one of the things I need to avoid. Super annoying, but 99.9999999% of restaurants are accommodating when it comes to not violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. Not the Wellesley Shake Shack!

So today I saw that they had a Dubai Chocolate milkshake, which would be 100% safe for me if we removed the chocolate (it sounds silly I know but it would still be really good). I was super excited about this, I had to put my dog to sleep this weekend, it’s been a rough couple of days and the idea of a pistachio milkshake sounded great. The staff and manager at this location basically told my husband to cope harder when he tried to order this with modifications and said that they weren’t interested in or willing to be accommodating.

Which is ridiculous because I’ve absolutely had “secret menu” shakes made for me over the years with modifications at the West Hollywood and Madison Square Park locations. This isn’t some Michelin star restaurant, this is “hey can I get a milkshake without chocolate” and their attitude is apparently that anaphylaxis is better than swapping one ingredient out of a milkshake.

So if the current dystopian climate of racism, antisemitism, homophobia just wasn’t doing it for you in terms of “life just isn’t causing enough unnecessary or pointless harm to people” you should absolutely go to the Wellesley Shake Shack Where you’ll be able to add some old-school ableism to your “I can’t believe this shit is still happening in 2025” bingo card.

Eh. Not sure I like this place yet. The shake was good. The ice cream was good. The lemonade made us pucker. So all was good but something about this place feels off.

I visit an older, ill friend and always bring him a malted milkshake. My usual shop was closed and I found Shake Shack on my drive. They made exactly what I wanted and were friendly, efficient and my pal enjoyed the shake. BTW, the store was spotless. Thanks!

We love Shake Shack, and having one closer is exciting. We love the mushroom burger and regular burgers. We were a little disappointed they didn’t have any truffle fries or sauce for the burgers. Service was fast, but nothing out of the ordinary. Place was clean, so were restrooms.
