We love this place and we usually go there probably once every two or three weeks.
Food is amazing, service it really depends while they trying to keep the atmosphere authentic, part of that is getting a waitress who barely speaks English and sometimes it can be perceived as a little bit impatient.
For us it's just part of the experience.

Everything was 5 stars for me. The food was just as visually appealing as it was good. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. My wife loves the spicy scallops maki.

Very good meal for $18.99 (Bento + 6 salmon rolls), very good service. The location is very strange (on the 2nd floor of a strange building), but don't be afraid, it's worth it!

Gyoza was burnt, tempura was over battered and not crisp but oddly squishy and chewy, noodles were served with lukewarm, super salty shoyu ramen broth but the noodles were in a clump and not even cooked through. It was terrible!! The wait staff was polite, but the food didn't even deserve one star. Don't even waste time here. It's dingy, dusty, and the food is not at all authentic. This is NOT a real Japanese ramen shop. Only the name is Japanese. A very disappointing disaster.
Great first lunch at Yama! High quality fish and quick attentive service. Would absolutely come back for everything, but especially the Red Sox roll.

Maki is done well here. Yakitori were made with white meat, which I believe to be a mistake, but all else was excellent

My spouse and I have been coming to Yama for over 20 years, and we have always enjoyed meals together, with family and with friends. The meals are well prepared and attractively plated. Service is personable and excellent even when they are busy. [As an observation more than criticism, Asian restaurants in general have had to struggle obtaining and affording top quality rice of all sorts, from Japanese-grown short grain to premium Indian basmati. Unfortunately, it seems Yama is no exception — the rice is good and acceptable, but not exceptional.] Lunch bento boxes and sashimi/sushi specials are excellent and good value.

I got the chicken tempura bento box for lunch and everything was very tasty. The service was great, and the portion was excellent for the price. I will be back to try the sushi next time!

We just moved to the area and I love this place. Great rolls, fast takeout, eat-in BYOB. Good value.

It is sad that I have to say this because the people are very nice and the service was excellent but the food was bad. I didn’t think it was expensive, but it’s really not my favorite. So, your

The choice and quality of sushi is excellent. A bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. The place isn't licensed for liquor, but you can bring your own

We stopped in for lunch on New Years Eve. Everything was delicious and freshly made. They were very accommodating for our toddler who had a wonderful time.

Overall sushi and noodles are average. Their sashimi is not of good quality. We have tried to like the restaurant but never been happy with its food.
