They are closed for some reason without any warning. Theirwebsite just says check for further information. I know it has been for sale.

I have been going too this place since 1990 when the outdoor tiki bar was in its prime! I like this reincarnation this time the bbq is well done and the new operators are local they are closed monday Tuesday Wednesday on the winter which typical in small towns the pizza is very good and they have the legendary tomahawk steak!

For one thing, you bloody well will not go hungry here! Staying at the Shaker Mill Inn next door makes this tavern a very convenient place to eat our meals. I was very glad to find that it is very much an American eatery because the majority of the very slim pickings here in West Stockbridge are over priced, highly pretentious places with the nerve to charge twenty bucks for a sandwich and call themselves "bistros". But at Shaker Mill Tavern burgers and fish 'n' chips are on the menu along with many other "normal" meals that real men will eat. They pride themselves on a smoked Prime Rib. Our first night I had one of their Angus burgers and could barely finish it. Cooked perfectly to my specification of "beyond medium well but short of burnt". They even had feta cheese to sprinkle on. (OK so maybe I do eat a tiny bit of snoot food.) Our second night I brought back a pizza to the room (see photo). A little on the greasy side but then again it was a meat lover's pizza. Ground beef, Sausage slices and pepperoni. I do not exaggerate when I say that the 16" large weighed about 6 pounds and I was unable to eat even a full half. Update... Went back tonight for dinner. On the recommendation of my extremely well informed and prepared server, Kassie, I had the pork loin. Three generously sized, perfectly prepared and utterly amazing loin chops (bone out) served with rice (my selection) and the best green beans I have ever had in a restaurant. If food lust is a sin, and repentance draws us closer to God, then my prayer life is going to make a dramatic turn for the better this evening. Winter is not the best time to come to Stockbridge. Half the town is closed and the other half has limited hours and limited availability of amenities such as the Tavern's really nice outdoor dining areas. We will be back next fall to really get the bang of the place. But for food at any time of year, eat at Shaker Mill Tavern.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. My fiance and I had met with the owner in January to dial in the catering for our wedding on September 29th. We had confirmed our plans and had been waiting (since January) for a contract so we could make a deposit. Countless calls to the restaurant "confirmed" that we were in the calendar, but we were unable to get a call back from the owner. We had also tried to reach out to him via email only for him to tell us more than once that he'd send us the contract that night (which we had never received). After not hearing anything back, less than two months before our wedding, we decided to seek an alternative. We needed to ensure we had a caterer! We sent an email to let them know that we needed to have something solid, STILL NO REPLY. Then we called to take us off of their calendar, when we were told we weren't on the calendar! Poor communication, worse customer service. Luckily we were able to find a caterer who is much more involved with much better quality and is exceeding our expectations! We would advise against doing any business with this place!

I don't normally write reviews but I felt this place deserved some love. On a long road trip from West NY to MA, my family of four needed a real meal. This place was great. My husband had bbq, the kids shared an awesome brick oven pizza and I could eat a fresh salad. 10 minutes off the Mass Pike. But best of all, a kids play space stocked with toys, books, and games. A changing table with a cushioned pad. A friendly and accommodating wait staff and even an attentive owner who stopped by to say hi. Lovely beers on tap to boot. And the restaurant was big enough to be great for families with young kids and customers who didn't want to be swamped by them.

Great service and great food, we had a party of 10 people and all went well. They serve hot food in heated dishes which is great. We would go again, it was our third time there.

Had the ribs. To me, they could have been cooked a little more and were a bit vinegary. Service was outstanding.

Yummm! Get the jalapeí±o poppers. They are so good! Friendly servers and great relaxed atmosphere. Try even have a kids play area.

Tonight worst service and food. Me and my friend both came for Sunday special beef rib rack, which they didn't have so we order Beef Bites. Food came cold, beef bites were over cooked, hard with so much fat. Waitress came to ask how is a good before we even touched a food, since then she were no where to be found. I need more drink and my friend need a coffee, we walked out without it. Went to this place twice before and it was nice local place to go but don't know what changed because food and service both were terrible

Food was great. Steak was cooked perfect. It was a busy Saturday night so service was as to be expected. Lovely environment. Loved the tavern feel without the tavern stale smell.

Dont come for the atmosphere... come for the Tomahawk. Wow. Perfectly done. Too much for one meal even for two. If you like fresh cut fries. This is THE place.

I went with my wife finally, been looking forward to eating there but always drove by at the wrong time. The place is very nice, the drinks were good and the bartender Nicole was great. The food was a different story. Portions were small but tasted good, we both ordered the chili and while it had good flavor, it was more like soup with very little meat. We said something about it and it seemed to be dismissed instantly. As a chef myself, I would have liked to know this but it seemed that no one there cared. That was my first time there and probably my last.

I came here tonight for the first time with a friend who has a small service dog. She has never had any trouble bringing the dog to restaurants in the Berkshires. After we finished our meal the owner came over and very aggressively told my friend she couldn't have the dog in the restaurant. She showed him her medical card and the dog's registration but he still insisted the board of health would shut him down. My friend explained that wasn't so. He backed down only enough to insist my friend put the dog on the floor, which she did. If you have a service dog or a friend who does I would stay far away from this restaurant.

I'd really like to love this place. It has had several incarnations in the 50 years I have lived here, some great, some terrible. The current one is unfortunately mediocre. I'll keep checking back and giving it another try I hope to be pleasantly surprised because it could be fantastic. UPDATE: new ownership may change things for the better. This is a goldmine for whoever finds the right formula for ownership. Fingers crossed.

a great place in one of my favorite towns, West Stockbridge in one of my favorite places to visit, the Berkshires. And while original building was built in the 1830's it maintains it's old time "Tavern" look and feel it has bee completely updated. The food is quite good, and the service is attentive. Keeping in mind I was there in Spring so it was rather quiet, during the busy times of the year (Summer/Fall) it can get quite busy.
