Love it. Been coming here all my life. We used to beg my dad for the amazing soft ice cream. The vegan soft serve is even more magical, AND they have gluten free cones. I recommend the chocolate dip. There is no ice cream better than soft serve at Dairy Joy, period.
I don’t usually get the lunch food because it is a bit pricey for basic standard New England roadside summer food, imho, but people seem to like it and I will cave and get an item from time to time.
Fingers crossed for adding Beyond Burger and gluten free buns and cones to the menu one of these days!
The staff is the best, friendly and helpful. Tip them when you go. The place is Cash Only so be prepared, because this place is not cheap, to say the least. I usually stick to the ice cream only for this reason.
A couple of critiques:
They sometimes close early for weather and don’t post it on social media, so there has been more than one disappointment.
While we are talking about disappointment, if you need the vegan flavor, check and make sure they have not run out, because it happens and they don’t always post about it when it happens.
Love the clams and lobster roll
We stopped by hoping to get some ice cream and notified that they only had maybe 5 or 6 flavors. I had creamsicle, mix of vanilla and orange flavors and it was pretty good. This place mostly focus on food. Lots of food choices. For the time, we were making our minds, which took a bit of time, lot's of people ordered food. It means place is popular.
Very cool New England hamburger and ice cream stand. Loved the walk up ordering, the patio seating area, and the retro vibes. Food was pretty good too. Fries were great! Other food was above average. Soft serve was very good, creamy and smooth. Wish I had a place like this near me, but thankful I don’t. I’d be there all the time gaining weight.
Ice cream is icier than an Antarctic glacier 🥶🥶❄️
Both the regular and vegan flavors are always incredible
Best soft serve near Boston. Cash only but atm nearby.
Food was mid and expensive. This is in a rich town so it will continue to do well every year. It’s not worth driving more than 10 minutes to get to, if you’re not from around there.
No notes just perfect 👌 dairy free ice cream, fried seafood… vegetarian options too!
My family and I have been coming here longer than I can remember. I will always love coming for the nostalgic value, great food options, and ice cream. Over the years though, the prices have felt increasingly unjustifiable. I’d feel better about the price if they didn’t have raging wasps in the outdoor seating area year after year. Everytime I come to visit we have to leave and sit in the car because the wasps are so dangerous to be around. I’d hope next season they do something about this because it would definitely encourage folks to stay around and enjoy themselves otherwise.

Probably best for ice cream. Food (burger and dog) were nothing special for the cost. Woman yelling for money back on food while we were there. Young lady taking order rolled her eyes when we ordered food. Order was incorrect. Condiment station needed refilling. We came here for a nostalgic visit and left disappointed.
It’s perfect. We usually just get ice cream but it’s such a happy vibe. Get the Java Berry!!
Fun neighborhood soft serve and food. Ultra case expensive.
$CASH ONLY$ and there is ONLY ONE reason a business does this. I wonder if they ever get audited by the IRS. Anyway, mediocre and very overpriced food and soft serve ice cream which is delivered by a truck in large bags made in a factory. We got a burger and were asked if we wanted lettuce and tomato. 'Sure' we replied. It was $2 extra. Came with nine French fries. I used to live near this place years ago and would take the kids many times a year. On one visit my nine French fries were stone-cold and I asked for a replacement. I had eaten half of them however and the owner asked where they were?! He suspected I was a serial fry scammer, driving up and down route 117 ordering fries and then claiming they were cold. I boycotted them after that.
Happiness abounds!
Waffle cone and soft ice cream!
What a find!
It's like being a kid and it's 1961 again.
Old ways are best.
Good cheeseburgers, too.
