Popped into Baby Cakes just to grab a cupcake for my niece. Thought it’d be a quiet, frosting-filled errand. Instead, it turned into the Great Weymouth Bake-Off meets Mission: Impossible.
I’m browsing the display case when a guy bursts in — sunglasses indoors, Bluetooth headset, clearly running on bad coffee and poor decisions — and demands, “A dozen red velvets. NOW.”
The young woman at the counter just smiles. The guy starts pounding the counter like he’s ordering artillery. Everyone freezes. The air smells like sugar and danger.
From the back, the owner emerges — apron dusted in powdered sugar like she just walked out of a snowstorm. Without breaking stride, she slides a tray of perfect cupcakes onto the counter, looks the guy dead in the eye, and says: “We bake with love… but we serve with speed.”
She boxes them in record time, ties the ribbon with one hand, and spins the box toward him like a Vegas blackjack dealer. The guy blinks twice, mumbles something about being late for a meeting, and leaves in stunned silence.
I ask if that happens often. She winks and says, “Honey, you should see us on wedding weekends.”
Five stars. Cupcake was flawless. Pretty sure the frosting could end wars.

Horrible experience here. I have been going here for a long time for coffees and breakfast. And one day this week I went in to get a coffee I ordered, way in advance over the phone there a was big line. So I had to make a judgment call cause I know I every time I am in there, I still have to wait in line even if I pre-ordered. So I had to just leave and go to work and not get my coffee.
Fast forward to today.. I go in to get a coffee & treat, and the owner comes around the corner looking like she is ready to argue, and she asks me if I got a coffee the other day, but didn't get it and left, of course I said yes, like no big yea, I explained I just couldn't wait in line and be late for work. But I said I can pay for it now if you would like anyway, just like hey no big, I'll cover it today.
But she kept going on about it and proceeded to keep saying the same thing over and over again, as I kept repeating, yea, I could pay for that today for you though too. Like man, very unprofessional. As if she was looking for a fight over a coffee she had to dump. It's just a coffee and I offered to pay for it, but you still want to sit here and talk about it? To aggressive for me lol I am an easy going person, and I would of happily paid for it, and you could of just asked me once about it. But you clearly have an anger issue and took it way to personal. Lol needless to say I will never be back here. Unprofessional and rude owner. And the cinnamon bun we got was stale anyway today. After her badgering me about it, I didn't even bother to order my coffee, and being treated like that, I am not buying anything else from you. I will not support a business with someone like that running it. That was very unnecessary, and a bit dramatic lol. I read other people have had similar experiences too, and now I know for myself. That whole thing was really strange.

This is my go-to coffee shop! Food and coffee are good, with so many options. The owner is so sweet and her staff are amazing! It can get busy so I just plan an extra few minutes for my trip there - worth it! It's a beautiful space, too!

the coffee is a hit or miss but the customer interaction is always a miss. the owner is not friendly and the employees follow suit. i enjoy going here but the staff interaction could be greatly improved.

From outside looked like the place was closed and inside was poorly lit. Hard to see what they have to offer for baked goods since everything is hidden behind a cloudy plexiglass barrier. They could definitely improve on their display. Service was slow, but staff was friendly. Cupcakes were either poorly baked or stale. My kids threw them away.

I really want to like this place because it’s local, but we just walked out with two of the most stale cupcakes we’ve ever eaten. These should not have been on display, and when they were put in the container, the service worker should have realized that they were nearly as hard as rocks just by handing them.
The chocolate peanut butter fooled me, thinking it could have been that firm because of a denser cupcake…but that was not the case. The peanut butter frosting tasted of soap. These cupcakes were appalling.

Took my grandson here last week for an ice cream. The worker was super nice and the regular size ice cream (brownie batter) in a waffle cone was very reasonably priced! Will be back soon!
Kid-friendliness: The worker was very kind and let my grandson take his time choosing an ice cream flavor. Which took a couple of minutes! Tough decision!
