If I could leave zero stars, I would.
My sister-in-law and I walked into Red Rose for a casual drink — nothing crazy, just trying to relax. I’m 29 years old, well over the legal drinking age, and had two forms of ID: my passport (the most official legal ID there is) and a photo of my driver’s license as backup.
Despite all that, I was denied a drink. Why? They couldn’t even give a real reason. It made absolutely no sense. I didn’t show up empty-handed, I wasn’t disrespectful — I had legitimate, government-issued proof of who I was, and still, they refused service.

Honestly, it felt personal.
There’s already a reputation around town that the staff at Red Rose are homophobic, and after my experience, I believe it 100%. I don’t pull that card lightly, but when you’re treated like trash for absolutely no reason, it’s pretty clear what’s going on.
The whole place is exactly what you’d expect — a bunch of small-town hillbillies clinging to the one bar they think they run.
And let’s talk about the bartender from Ireland who thinks he’s somebody — sir, you work at a dive bar in Weymouth. Relax. Whatever standard you think you brought with you is long gone.

Bottom line: don’t waste your time or money. There are a million better places where you’ll actually be treated like a human being. Red Rose is trash, period.

Always seen it from the outside and glad I went in.

In from out of town. Quite shocked to find places closed or kitchens closed down at 9 or 10 pm for Friday night. Seems to be very common for the area. So sadly only a 3 star because the environment seemed nice.

What a wonderful friendly neighborhood bar. My wife and I went there for the first time for their open mic, and were treated like we had been going there forever. Food was good and so was the music! We'll definitely be back!

Very authentic feeling Irish pub with cosy decor and great Celtic music the night we visited. Will absolutely come back soon.

This is a gorgeous pub with delicious food and perfectly poured Guinness. I'm not kidding; we're talking perfect temperature, a clean glass, clean taps, and that perfect head of foam just proud of the rim!

The menu is small, but thoroughly mastered by the cooking staff.

The fish and chips were light, fresh, and clean.
Phenomenal.They're a special.

That's the same word I'd use to describe the Beef Stew.
This is a staple on the menu.

There was also authentic Irish music and the sound was not overbearing. What an experience!

We went for Karaoke, but the Celtics were playing. There was some singing during halftime, but not much else. The food was great, and the drinks even better! I'd definitely go back again for they're karaoke night, as long as there aren't any games on.

You guys kept skipping my songs on TouchTunes last night for that bald dbag, and the other annoying loser who’s there all the time who tries hitting on every woman there but is a creep always every time. I’m owed $15 from you.

Dropped in looking for Irish music bc it was the Saturday of St. Paddy's weekend.... and were surprised that it was a karaoke night. With nobody singing any Irish songs. And only about 2 people who could carry a tune. But that's ok. Who am I to judge and I didn't have the guts to get up there, so there's that. Anyway-The place is tiny (in a good way) and clearly everybody in there are regulars and friends with each other, you just picked up on that vibe. I am not sure what whiskey they put with my ginger ale but it definitely wasn't Jamo like I asked. Drank it anyway, it did the trick! Loved the ambiance & decorations and authentic Irish items (including a Kerry flag) and funny sayings all over the walls. Very interesting to look at from any angle! We will likely be back when we return to the area.
