I recently moved out of the Berkshires and I miss Spice Root so much! The food is always delicious, fresh, and high quality. The restaurant is clean and service is friendly and helpful. If you're unfamiliar, I highly recommend you visit and support this wonderful local business.

Not good. Burnt naan, blah samosa, meh sag paneer, $30 for 6 tiny lamb kabobs they lie and call ‘chops’…
Every dish we tried was about as bland as it could be, I wouldn’t eat here or recommend it to anyone
I have been to Indian restaurants around the world, from Bangalore to New York City. I never expected to find my favorite one in the heart of the Berkshires, in Williamstown. The food—the coconut chicken curry in particular—was delicious, flavored with the perfect proportion of oil and spice; I ate here for two months straight as a visiting student at Williams College and am pleased to say that the dish quality was consistent and excellent every time. This did not surprise me, however, given the sincerity and friendliness of the managers and staff at the restaurant—Steve, Dhruv, and Virat are all amazing people. There aren’t too many restaurants in the vicinity, but one needn’t look any further than Spice Root: I would happily eat here every day for a long time, given the healthy, high quality, and reasonably priced options it offers!
We remembered having a really good lunch here many years ago when we were in the area. So we decided to stop in again for lunch when we were back in the area recently. It did not disappoint. The papadum are great. The chicken tikka masala is super tasty. I really appreciate it the option to add veggies to it, the potato particularly was surprisingly delicious. The mango lassi was also really tasty. Great service and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
The food was very scrumptious. The spices are lovely. Just right.

We had lunch here: food was absolutely AWEFUL !! Plates were grimy, also lacked glazing in places, leaving room for bacteria to grow.
You can call it bad Asian, but not definitely not Indian !!
Ambiance and staff can add a star, but get more Indian friends to hook you up bc the real sauce is ... Well you know
Amazing food!! Great service. Highly recommend.

Excellent food. We order halwa puri every time and are never disappointed. Beef kebab, goat karahi and chicken tikka, all are great.
If you live in Adams this is one of two options for Indian, they're decent.
I’m a few towns away and I still chose to drive here with my girlfriend to have some delicious Indian food. We both have tried over 20 Indian restaurants and nothing tops Spice Root. They deserve more than 5 stars.
We spent the whole morning at Williams College on a wonderful April Spring day. We walked all around with a tour guide constantly walking backwards. We were in an awkward group of people who you don’t know, will never see again and we didn’t know why they were there. Were they forced? Were they cajoled? Well, one place we were not forced or cajoled to go to was lunch at the Spice Root. One of the places the tour took us to was this nice little street near the campus with shops and restaurants. We love Indian food and we opted to NOT go to the campus cafeteria, frankly because our tour guide didn’t talk it up. Kind of bashed it. So we walked back to the SPICE ROOT as we had made a mental note of the location. We bumped into another family that was on our tour, but we sat down thinking it was a hit or miss type of a place. Not crowded, we sat down all 6 of us. We ordered and sat back ready for anything. The decor was nice and the day beautiful but we were happy to be out of the blazing sun for a time. We glanced around and we observed on the TV in the restaurant the owner had the Indian Premier League Cricket game on. We watched, we laughed and we tried to figure it out. We could not. But ultimately I called the owner or the boss over and asked questions. He said it was like baseball which I didn’t believe. Our lunch came and boy was i surprised. The presentation was not something I was expecting. The food came out in separated classic school lunch metal trays. It was great. In each section of the tray was something, either rice, or the main meat dish with sauce or a veggie or a snack. We all sat there and literally inhaled the food. It was so good. We shared, we kept watching and heard from our oldest who had Googled Cricket rules online. We were able to pack up a bit for dinner later but nobody wanted to, we all wanted to finish it there. What a great place and by the time we were done the place was still quiet. The boss’s girls came in or the owner’s girls. I’m not sure. They came in and sat at the bar for kiddie drinks with dad and cricket was over. We a great hour we spent there at the Spice Root. I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala which most of my family had including our youngest who has a food allergy. And I got a more spicy version of the the Tikka Masala. The cost was a bit steep but spread over 2-3 meals it was all good. Thank you Spice Root! What a great ending to a great day in Williamstown, MA!
