Was visiting a friend and decided to stop and eat before heading back to Boston at which we chose Glen Caffe for and late lunch. The atmosphere was very family oriented and relaxing; not to mention how polite the staff are; as we entered we were greeted with smiles! Our waiters was fairly new but did a great job describing the menu and answering any questions or politely excusing herself to get answers from the kitchen to our questions regarding food allergies and if the kitchen could accommodate substitutions. They had a variety of options, something for everyone which my son (a four year old) had his favorite mac & cheese “which he devoured.” My husband chose the diamond steak and chose the homemade sauce with spaghetti and meatballs “which were to die for!”The adult beverage options were great and complimented just about any & every dish on the menu; I totally will make the drive back to dine again besides visiting my friends!Highly recommend a visit if your looking to just relax, eat warm quality food and have conversation with adults or a family dinner night out!

I have eaten at this restaurant many times. The staff is always welcoming and the atmosphere is warm. There are a lot of different options on the menu and I am always pleased with the flavor. I strongly recommend trying it out next time you are in the Winchendon area.

Delicious meals with abundant quantity and flavors. Meatballs, pot roast and the Scallop salad are a few of my favorites. Try it, you won’t regret it!

We have been to this restaurant twice in the past, once for breakfast and once for lunch. On both of those occasions, the food was good. Not special, but good. This most recent visit, however, was a total disaster. We went SPECIFICALLY for the seafood chowder that was advertised as a special and we went at 5:15pm because the couple we were with said the service is terrible and gets worse as the evening goes on. Most of the tables were occupied but there was an opening and we were seated after a few minutes. Before we sat, we asked if they still had seafood chowder and were assured they did. The table was bare. About 10 minutes later, the waitress brought salads. (We hadn't ordered our meals yet.) A few minutes later, she brought a carafe of water and 4 red Solo cups to the table. We still had not ordered and had no silverware or dressing for the salads. We were finally given a carafe of dressing for the salads that gets passed from table to table. How sanitary is that? Still no silverware to eat the salads we were given but hadn't ordered. The owner was walking around chatting while the single waitress was fighting tears and trying to do everything herself. How shameful - the owner could have cleared and set the empty tables and done whatever she could to help this poor overwhelmed young girl. Now at 5:45 she came to take our order. Two of us were getting the seafood chowder for dinner, the other two ordered it for an appetizer. Still no utensils. She came back after 10 minutes to tell us they were out of the chowder. That was the reason we went there. So, at 6pm (45 minutes after arriving) we left without eating which we couldn't have done anyway without utensils. My heart breaks for the waitress and I am appalled that the owner didn't help her at all. We will not be returning. If there was an option to leave a negative star review, I would have done so, but one star is the lowest option available.

Been to this place twice. The first time the food was excellent. There were only a couple tables of people in the place. I went back hoping to get the same quality of food. Well.... That didn't happen. Both times the wait staff was very inexperienced. They were left to run the whole front of the restaurant by themselves both times. This time the wait staff was crying because they were overwhelmed and had to do everything them selves. The quality of food was horrendous this time. I got taste of Italy and wife got steak tips. My food was supposed to be a meatball, sausage and chicken parm over spaghetti. I got two meatballs and a boiled piece of chicken breast with cheddar cheese. The sauce tasted like old school cafeteria food. Worst food I ever had in a restaurant. My wife got fatty minute steak cut up to pretend it was steak tips. No flavor, and quality was worth about $5.95. Very poorly run restaurant. Not the wait staff fault at all. Owners sat in the back doing who knows what while the waitress had to deal with very angry customers. We gave the waitress a decent tip but we will not be going back. There was no love in the food and they treat their staff poorly. This was a perfect example of pay the bill and we will give you whatever was in the cooler that we had. I would be embarrassed to serve this food.

The Glen Caffe has excellent food. We had the pot roast special and it was fabulous. Salad was the freshest I have had in a restaurant in a very long time.

My mom ordered chicken Alfredo and I ordered chicken parmigian. Our order took forever to get! We watched 3 other customers come in and receive their food before us. When our food finally arrived it was very disappointing! My mother’s chicken was as tough as raw hide and she was unable to eat it. What I received as chicken parmigian was 2 chunks of unbreaded chicken with sauce and cheese over it. The chicken was very hard to cut and even tougher to chew! I ate one bite of chicken and was done. I only at the pasta. My mother let our waitress know who was a young girl who stated she was new. We could hear the older woman in the kitchen tell her to bring us each an Italian sausage as a substitute. She was told to bring them to us without even asking first. We kindly declined the sausage. They took $2.00 off each of our meals as a remidy! We will never go back here and would advise others to steer clear as well!! I feel sorry for the new waitress who just started! She couldn’t apologize to us enough and we were sure to tip her well, but the cook and management leave a lot to be desired!
