Blackstrap is my GO TO for bbq, neighborhood vibes, live music, darts, etc. The staff is so fun, the food and drinks are amazing, it’s comfortable and chill but you still get great service and food/drink. The owners are super hands on and always there, and are such nice and cool people. Definitely recommend, especially for their live music nights! Nothing else like it around here!

Unbelievable barbecue in Winthrop, what a fantastic place! I was served by Melissa, who is an absolute slice of heaven, just a delight! Being from Ireland myself, I was so impressed by the perfect pour on a pint of Guinness here, not something you’d expect from a bbq place but they really have a lovely pint of Guinness! The food was just incredible, probably the best barbecue I’ve ever had in my life. I was fortunate to meet the owner, Chris, who runs a really lovely neighborhood place where everyone is welcome. Such an inclusive little spot! Drop everything you’re doing and eat here, and if you see Melissa, tell her that Irish Shane says hello!!!

The food was just incredible! What a wonderful place, a true hidden gem! I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Best BBQ I’ve ever had, and I’ve travelled across the world. Although I live in Montana, I’ll be back to visit Boston again and will be sure to visit Blackstrap again. The noise level in the restaurant was great and the food was piping hot. Oh, and being served by Melissa was just the icing on the cake! ☘️

The food was amazing, and the service was excellent. The burnt ends were delicious, and the mac and cheese was just how I liked it, not creamy.

Been coming to Blackstrap for years and it is by far the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I’ve tried BBQ at a renowned spot in Dallas and it didn’t even come close to how good Blackstrap is. Every dish is full of flavor and the atmosphere and staff are great as wellCan’t recommend this place enough. My husband and I moved to the Merrimack valley 2 years ago and wish they would open another spot somewhere up here!

Nice little place in Winthrop. Atmosphere is great. Good selection of craft cocktails and craft beer.Food was hit and miss. The vinegar flavor to the pulled pork had a nice zing to it but was a bit overwhelming. The burnt ends were flavorful and tender but could have been crisper. The spicy slaw and mashed potatoes were spot on.I'd like to come back and try some other dishes, including the BBQ fries. And I disagree with other reviewers comparing Blackstrap to places in the Carolinas and Texas. I didn't expect the place to be internationally competitive. It's good for Boston and worth a visit.

I have travelled all across America and have visited many BBQ restaurants, this is by far my favorite. Who knew that Boston has sensational BBQ? The food was just sensational, and was only outdone by the service. Melissa waited on us, and she was an absolute delight, making sure that all of our needs were taken care of. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. The owner was working while we were there and he came over and chatted. He’s charismatic and enthusiastic, and his passion for food is clear to see when you look around the restaurant. Don’t think twice about visiting this lovely place!
