We made a reservation and were immediately greeted upon arrival and the hostess was very pleasant and provided assistance with accompanying my father through the handicapped accessible doorway which we were very grateful for. The waiter was also very pleasant and attentive and the food was delicious. We took my parents who were visiting from out of town and had a great experience.
Been going there for decades. They were shorthanded on wait staff, waitress did her best. Steak tips were overdone and tough. Didn't send them back because we'd probably have to wait an hour for a replacement meal. Prime rib was good, broiled seafood platter was good, Parmesan haddock was just ok. Then came coffee and dessert time. They have NO DECAF COFFEE! That's poor business practice.
Food as usual was delicious. The first time I had their Cesar salad tonight and it was delicious. The large fresh shrimp cocktail was also very good. Excellent lobster trio and prime rib as usual. Consistency you can always count on at The Arms!
The venue is very appealing...old and charming. Our group was looking forward to a great time. We were told there was no lobster. Odd since multiple dishes featured lobster. After ordering chicken. we left immediately when the waitress said the chicken could not be sold since it all went bad. Eek!! Did you leave the fridge door open. Lots of doubt about food cleanliness. Most of our group drove one hour+. It's a fabulous venue....you're hurting your reputation when you could do much better. Thanks.
We had a new waitress I believe who was very nervous. We got our salads after our meals so we didn't end up eating very much of them. The food was good as usual and the waitress was very nice and hopefully she'll catch on soon. The noise level though was terrible last night, lately it seems to be getting worse when it's very busy in the dining room. Still a nice night out with good food and drinks
We always enjoy Winthrop Arms. The meal was very good. I shared the lamb chops with my friend. One of the men had haddock and my husband had the “World Famous” chicken pot pie!! We always ask for Lois as our server if she is working! She's like the energizer bunny! We really enjoy laughing with her! Overall this restaurant is a hidden gem?!
Thank you! ❤️? We celebrated our twin daughters' graduation from Winthrop High School! ?? Always a pleasure and we appreciate the great service by Lois and Dasha! We can't say enough about the yummy food! Rose got a cheeseburger and fries ?? and loved it! Rachel and my husband Michael got Doc'a pot pies ?with rice! I'm gluten free and had the lobster ? with brown rice instead of pasta. Absolutely scrumptious!!!
For the first time in 40 years, we were so disappointed in the Arms. We usually rate at least 5 each time. On this visit, we did get seated right away, but Waitress took a long time to come to table and when she did for drink orders, it took over 15 minutes to get them. We put in orders, appetizer first and that took awhile. Dinners came and my Husbands came out ok but mine which was suppose to be Baked Stuffed Shrimp with Baked potato & spinach came out as just Baked Shrimp (no stuffing) and Broccoli which I hate. Sent it back and got it back with a clump of spinach but same shrimp, no stuffing. We then had to get another server to find our server so we could get another cocktail. It was not that busy either. Like I stated, we have gone there for almost every Birthday, Anniversary, etc and this was a very bad experience. I always recommend the Arms, but not on this occasion, sorry. JG
Enjoyed a great meal with my mom. We were there for the pork chops. Cooked perfectly as usual, mashed potatoes and squash were plentiful and hot! Mom got asparagus and were cooked perfectly as well. Staff was pleasant, happy to wait on us.
Service was very good. It was very busy on a Saturday night, and the noise level was high. Try to get seated in a booth; a little more comfortable and cozy Food was good, Mac and cheese was not very good, too much butter and not very flavorful. Hamburger was good, prime rib was very good. Cooked perfectly. Prices are very reasonable and portions are good

We went for Easter dinner as it has become a new family favorite. Unfortunately we were Very disappointed with the pre-selected not many options maybe 6? No rice only mashed or baked. This is only a quarter of the items offered on their regular menu which is so vast. I ordered the Fred Flintstone Prime Rib “only if I could get it extra-rare” and was told “no problem”. It came with our other dinners Medium not pink at all.. I told the food runner it was ordered Xtra rare and asked is there anyway get it rare and was told that was all they had... luckily I had 3 shrimp to eat $70 dinner down the drain. Which is EXTREMELY PRICEY for this establishment. Big disappointment.
My family had a wonderful Easter dinner at the Arms Restaurant. The restaurant is so beautiful and dinner and service was great! Our dining experience at the Arms made our Easter holiday so memorable!
I got the scallops and shrimp scampi, and the flavor of the meal was very good. The problem was, is that the shrimp and scallops were overcooked to the point where they were chewy.
As always a very pleasant evening at “The Arms”! It is St. Patrick's Day weekend so it was very noisy and crowded in the lobby when we got there! Once inside the restaurant the sound level decreased somewhat. We requested Lois as our server and she did a great job! The food was good. My only complaint is that the corned beef was sliced very thick. However, it was tasty!
This is my annual get together with friends for the corned beef and cabbage dinner. Delicious as usual. A tad on the pricey side as I'm seeing other great restaurants in the area post their St Patrick's Day menu.
