Always reliable Captain Kidd is our go-to in Woods Hole. Husband had the burger and I wasn't very hungry so I had the small caesar salad with he Waldorf chicken salad, which made a nice combo. Chicken salad could have used a few more apples and raisins, but I'd definitely order it again. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Must say that the mixed drink my husband had contained very little alcohol, but we've noticed that at most restaurants in the past couple of years. It's our opinion that it's not a light pour by the bartender but at the direction of management. Best to stick to beer or wine.
Captain Kidd has always been one of my favorite restaurants. However, our experience wasn't as positive last night. I ordered halibut which was overcooked and difficult to cut into. They offered to recook it, but by the time it was ready everybody everyone our party was done with their food. It was disappointing, that they didn't offer even so much as a dessert to compensate for this. My husband had the sirloin which was fine, but on the tough side. He never complained about it But we both agreed that the money we spent on our meal was not worth it. The service was excellent! Our waitress was great!
Overall great - i read some of the reviews of poor food and service but ours was not that. Great service and great food Will go back
We sat in the adorable lounge area at a corner hightop and the atmosphere was amazing. Our service, drinks and food were all outstanding. We frequently visit this location for the beautiful view outside but on this occasion we sat inside and were not disappointed.
The location itself was great! We were at the back room with round tables by the water. What a great set up!! Our server was pleasant, friendly & attentive. Our food however was not good. Kids food came out cold. The shrimp scampi was so bland. Not amlot of flavor. *that seemed to be the theme*. Fish & chips had a good texture, but had no flavor to it. Overall happy with the location & service, but food definitely left something to be desired.
It's one of my 'go to' places with friends and family in town. Great atmosphere - whether inside or outside- and the food never disappoints.
Fisherman platter was not at all the amount of seafood that I expected for the price. The waitress only checked on us once, when we received our food. Never checked to see if needed refills. She also did not give us any kind of recommendation or information regarding our orders and what we should expect.
Our server was great. View was nice. Food was subpar. Got the calamari to start. Came out hard as a rock. I ordered the lobster ravioli for my entree and it came out ice cold. You could tell that it sat in the window until my husband's meal was ready. Not worth $39 for 5 cold ravioli's.
What a nice evening ... We all loved the setting , our waitress was terrific and each one of us loved our meals and drinks! We liked the Cod so much ... special. The garden bowl, swordfish and shrimp scampi were also excellent.
Go in the early evening and watch the boats putter into the harbor -- a relaxed, casual atmosphere with a range of traditional dishes (burgers and fish & chips, etc.) and more innovative ones (the ahi-tuna/mango tartare was fab, as was the roasted beet & avocado garden bowl). A little pricey, but...the view.....

We are locals and eat here on special occasions- mainly when family visits. Food quality and selection has plummeted since our last visit/last year. Our server was lacking in memory- we had to ask several times for drinks to be refreshed and did not get even that. We were a table of 4, she had 4 other 2 person tables. Managing to chat up the others while forgetting about us. One of us got fish n chips, both pieces of fish were undercooked while outside was dark crust. This means the cooking oil is/was old. Just gross. Being a local, I understand how important visitors are, this server and the kitchen missed the mark.
We had a delightful dinner at Captain Kidd! I made a reservation for outdoor seating and we were seated on the dock area. It was a lovely venue, not too noisy and the food was amazing. There were people in our group who were gluten free and they were pleased by all of the options.
Fantastic food in a lovely local restaurant. Good service, great local seafood options, in a comfortable and authentic local place. A go-to for my family for over 50 years.
Great location and server was friendly. There were six of us. Food for a quite a few of us was cold and very bland. We did not expect to have a great food because we go to Woods Hole for the experience- the views and scene in general are wonderful.
Was there over July 4th with a large party. Disappointing. Started with a number of apps which the table shared. They were uniformly good. The entrees however were a mixed bag at best. Portions were smallish -- in some cases ridiculously so. The halibut was like a single fish stick, not to mention overcooked, and my swordfish was undersized (at least for the price) and unremarkable. I was with a young crowd and the waitress seemed to want to mix it up with them and did not maintain a professional manner imo. Not what you'd expect at an upscale restaurant.
