Always reliable Captain Kidd is our go-to in Woods Hole. Husband had the burger and I wasn't very hungry so I had the small caesar salad with he Waldorf chicken salad, which made a nice combo. Chicken salad could have used a few more apples and raisins, but I'd definitely order it again. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Must say that the mixed drink my husband had contained very little alcohol, but we've noticed that at most restaurants in the past couple of years. It's our opinion that it's not a light pour by the bartender but at the direction of management. Best to stick to beer or wine.

Lunch after a bike ride and walk around woods hole. I had the steamed oysters and others had the clam chowder, seasonal salad and shrimp cocktail. All.of us were pleased with our meal and service.

Captain Kidd has always been one of my favorite restaurants. However, our experience wasn't as positive last night. I ordered halibut which was overcooked and difficult to cut into. They offered to recook it, but by the time it was ready everybody everyone our party was done with their food. It was disappointing, that they didn't offer even so much as a dessert to compensate for this. My husband had the sirloin which was fine, but on the tough side. He never complained about it But we both agreed that the money we spent on our meal was not worth it. The service was excellent! Our waitress was great!

Overall great - i read some of the reviews of poor food and service but ours was not that. Great service and great food Will go back

I've been going to the Captain Kidd for many years. The setting is truly lovely - overlooking Eel pond in Woods Hole - if you sit outside or on the enclosed porch, you might even get to watch a yacht/boat dock at the restaurant for lunch or dinner. It's probably worth a meal there (I'd say lunch) just for the ambience/view. However, I was disappointed recently when I took a group of friends for a celebratory dinner. The food was spotty at best - tasteless, lukewarm mussels, meal-y/almost clam-less chowder, and a too-chewy kale salad. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing as one friend's lobster roll and another's swordfish dinner looked better than my selections. And, our service was good. For the price, however, I expect better food.

Enjoying the view from the deck overlooking the pond was a highlight—serene and picturesque. Our server struck the perfect balance of friendliness and expertise, making the experience even better. The artichoke dip and calamari were flavorful and well-executed, and the cod was cooked to perfection.

We’ll definitely be back.

The service was mid - the waiter was always in a rush, never smiled, never bothered to refill our water. The busboy was the only guy who we wanted to tip. The food was good yet extremely overpriced.

You must be Captain Kidding me. Just walked out of this empty on this holiday weekend place after being rudely looked over and told I may not know how to be a customer. Hostess sent me to bar, unwelcoming and obviously too-busy with her empty bar bartender sends me back to hostess as if I don’t know how to get a table. TYPICAL at this dive. Have a nice long winter

Solid seafood, great view, great service!

We sat in the adorable lounge area at a corner hightop and the atmosphere was amazing. Our service, drinks and food were all outstanding. We frequently visit this location for the beautiful view outside but on this occasion we sat inside and were not disappointed.

Seafood was delicious! Service superior. Fabulous Chef.
