I just wanted to share how disappointed I was with my recent visit to the Kelsey Dining Room in Victoria Hotel. My family and I were there to celebrate my birthday, but the experience was really frustrating. We waited about 30 minutes before anyone even took our order, and then another 30 minutes later the waitress came back to say the items we ordered weren’t available.
We decided to stay and reorder, but things only got worse. I ordered dry ribs with coleslaw, but the waitress brought fries instead and said she thought it was my original steak and fries order the one they told me wasn’t available. She also brought the wrong chicken wing flavour to my
Wife and said. The cook decided to do half and half flavour instead.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience and definitely not what I expected for a birthday dinner. However the waitress give me a free slice of birthday cake when She found out that it is my birthday. I hope they can improve their service.

Kelsey’s dining room isn’t a city fine restaurant: it is in the North, so standards are different, ok? They are professional, everything is nice , professional restaurant decor, booths, clean, well appointed dining room. The food was all very good, we found portions quite generous, and we are fussy and big eaters. We both had the French onion soup for a starter. It was very good. The broth had a touch of an unusual herb- I think perhaps sage? Or tarragon? Giving a slight hint of bitter note with a bright tartness- an interesting choice and really tasty. Enjoyed it very much. Served with a large garlic bread (1/2 a torpedo bun), it was generous in size and well made. Cooked just right, baked till nice and hot and cheese was bubbling and browned in bits exactly right. 10/10. My son had a red pepper chorizo pasta: he said it was very good 8.5/10. Would have liked a bit more sausage and tomato but all in all, really really good. The chorizo really makes this dish. Nice if you like pasta with spicy tomato sauce.
I had the traditional veal cutlet with vegetables and poutine. The veg was a lovely medley of fresh, stir fried seasonal vegetables. Not over cooked as is so common in restaurants- tender but a little crisp. Perfect. Veal was maybe a teeny bit over cooked, but still really really decent. Wonderful flavour. Poutine was good. Veal had a lovely mushroom and onion medley on top with the gravy, adding a world of delicate flavour without heat, to this dish which is often bland in Prairie family restaurants. We couldn’t finish our plates, even though my son is a big teen boy, and eats like one. The server was very nice, excellent all around.

I’ve eaten here dozens of times over the years, it’s one of my regular spots when working in Flin Flon. The Moosehead on tap is enough of a reason to keep coming back, especially after a long drive to town.

I had dinner here because on Monday evening it seemed to be the only place open.
First off, service was great! Staff were prompt and friendly and it’s always nice to feel welcomed after a long road trip.
I had the spicy chicken penne daily special which I guess the chicken was ground so it wasn’t pieces of chicken breast. I love spicy but there wasn’t much else flavour. Slightly over sauced and like I said the meat was ground up you couldn’t really tell it was there.
They were out of a couple other entrees i would have preferred like ribs
I didn’t feel great after, not saying I was ill or anything but I chose not to finish my leftovers the next day.
The pint of draught moosehead (one of my favourite beers) I had was excellent. So fresh, I rarely get to enjoy such a crisp flavourful pint.
Also when I came back to check out the bar downstairs around 10 they were already closed even though the sign out front advertised its open til 11
Overall a decent choice but there are better restaurants in town, just not on Monday nights

The restaurant is located in the Victoria Inn hotel. Once entering you turn right up the steps and will follow the hallway to the restaurant. If you’re not local it would be easy to get turned around and head in the wrong direction.
It’s a wait to be seated sort of place.
It’s clean in appearance and has a fancier look and feel than the other restaurants in town, but it’s nothing comparative to larger city restaurants.
I had the buffalo chicken wrap with a side poutine.
The poutine was the best part. The fries were well done and had a really great flavour and crisp level. The only thing that would make it better was real curds but I am not disappointed in the slightest.
The wrap was disappointing. It was too spicy for my personal tastes and I had a hard time eating it due to this. They put chips in it which is interesting. Another thing to note is there was a very small amount of chicken in the wrap, it was mainly just filler.
The spinach dip we all shared was decent, but nothing to write home about.
Service was ok- it was kind of slow and took a long time to get orders in, our items & just in general didn’t feel like we saw the server much.
When done you’ll pay at the hostess desk where you first waited to be seated.
If I return here I will try something different. I definitely recommend the fries.

All the waitresses and waiters were perfect especially the elderly lady in the morning. The menu is not very varied but everything is good.

Wile service and atmosphere are excellent the food fell way offAsked for a med rare steak sandwich I got a piece of meat 1/2" thick and cooked to almost ash.The sauce on the steak was good but very overpowering of the other flavors. The portion sizes are very small even compared to the price tag that goes with it.

Came here with a family of 6. 3 of us has gluten-free/dairy-free concerns. The server was very accommodating in that regard and went as far as custom billing our food to make sure it was fair. I myself never ate, but I had the coffee. Or rather, 2 sips. It was probably top 5 WORST coffee's i've ever drank in my 20+ years of drinking coffee. The server, albeit quite frank, did take the coffee back and remove it from the bill. Others complained of dressing inside their wrap being heavy on one side, missing from the other. Steak was only cooked on one half, leaving the other side raw and dangly. The restroom was not stocked/fully functional. Taps and dispensers were empty/broken. But, it gave enough respite for my family to have a quick bite and continue with our day. Chairs/tables were clean and spacious and were set in a manner where we could view the pool, which was a nice touch. Obviously some money was spent here in this building/venue, but there has been little to no 'love' put into it. Kind of a "things will get done when i get to it" attiude. No rush, no pride, no quality control, etc.Won't be returning.

I Got the Dry Ribs and fries with gravy, Dry ribs were phenomenal, fries Were Magnifecent, my girlfriend got the cod Burger which She absolutely Adored, and her sister got chicken straps and fries which were promptly devoured, service staff was great, Kind Friendly and Prompt!
Parking: Hotel Parking lot had tons of room when we went, even if it was busy it seems they would have ample room for parking
Wheelchair accessibility: They have wheelchair ramps leading up to the lobby and up the stairs within

Food was okay but took over an hour. I orderd a side poutine and it came as fries. When i got it back half the fries had gravy - it was obviously dumped on fast and not enough. We waited over 30 minutes to see a waitress. Extremely slow. We wanted the special but was told that is only for lunch so we had to find something else.

I was there for a business trip, Very friendly people there and they look after you, when I was preparing to leave, there was a wet snowfall that had just occurred and I was driving to Saskatoon to catch a flight, they were genuinely concerned for my well being, I made it home safe and sound, a big thanks to the staff for their care and concern, I will recommend your hotel for other business ventures in Flin Flon
Kelsey's Dining Room is one of the few options available in Flin Flon and for what it is.. its pretty good.. the service is good and friendly and the food is good. Lots of places were closed so big bonus for this place to be open.
