Another wonderful brunch the Gates today. Such a variety of tastes from beef, chicken and seafood to salads, cheeses and pastries. Started off with the asparagus and pea soup that was great, pasta salad and fresh shrimp with a zippy cocktail sauce. I pretty much proteined up with prime rib, tenderloin, chicken and mushroom sauce and tempura shrimp. I did not hit up the omelette bar or the dessert table this time but looked good as always. Pleasant atmosphere as always and our server took great care of the four of us!

I had my wedding last week June 12. It was beautiful and almost perfect. Me and Ray the manager planned for this event. Here are my concerns that could be improve for the future.
- I arrived with a full parking and does’t know where to park. A reserve parking should have been made at least for me and my bride. Ray opened a parking spot upon I mention it to my coordinator. They had another event at the big hall with 300 guest but 600 people arrived. I wish they informed me about having an event at the bighall as a heads up.
- Ceremony chairs were facing the wrong way, and the wedding welcome sign, table with umbrella basket placed at the wrong spot. It was on the big hall near entrance, it should be at the big lawn - Ray and his team arranged this. Good thing my table decorator was there, decided to stay and offered to fix the chairs and put the signage at the correct place.
- I saw that the sunroom door weren't covered by a divider which me and Ray agreed that he will. I reminded him that day upon noticing it and he put the divider right away for guest not to see it. Thanks for that.
About the Food: - Reception time, the food was delayed. I know that the food quality was one of the priority but given I informed and emailed Ray about my timeline, this shouldn't happened.
- I only had 36 pax including us the couple, the chicken cordon blue was not enough at the first part. Some of my guest didn't get it. The refill took so long which ended up guest were full already by the time refill arrived. - my guest told me the chaffing dish was not full. Given that I only had 36 guest including us couple, a refill shouldn't be needed. The chafing dish was BIG AND should BE FULL enough to serve 36 pax for one round.
- a printed menu was agreed to me made by Ray, I was there a day before the wedding and reminded him again about it. But there was no menu on the table on the wedding day. My guest didn't even know what drinks I have prepared, that I have iced tea and refillable soda order. Most of them ended up drinking water only. Wine was served and coffee tea. I wanted a printed menu at the very first and reason I got from Ray was he didn't print as it doesn't match my glossy thank you card I have prepared. THIS WAS AN INVALID REASON as I don’t expect a fancy menu and I agreed that it will be just printed on a black ink and white paper that will my match my black tie theme.
- I was so surprised when Ray said on the email that he was not aware of majestic rentals doing decor outside for the ceremony. Ray, I told you about this and if you want to check our email convos. Even the moving of 6 bouquets flowers to the sunroom. You suggested that you will do that. But again thank you for my decorator and she did the moving of the decors.
- I was charged for 9 suppliers meal when I only have 8 vendors.
Ray waived my ceremony fee. Thank you for that.
Overall it was a great wedding but it could have been perfect if things some weren’t forgotten.
The food was great!!! My guest loved it but I feel bad to those who weren't able to try the chicken cordon blue.

Great venue, tables are well spaced in smaller rooms so dining is of a more intimate nature than in “ big box” restaurants. Meals were delicious and presented very well. Chris, our server, was attentive and had great suggestions.

Their Prime Rib is absolutely wonderful. I had an issue with our server. Instead of attending the table (this was just me it happened to) from my right, he kept reaching across the table right in front of my face. That is so wrong and i should have spoken to him thm but I did not. This morning I emailed the restaurant telling them about my experince and suggested they train all staff on the proper way to serve customers. They did email me back and thanked me for bringing this to their attention and will be speaking to all staff so it does not happen again.

A Memorable Birthday Dinner at The Gates on Roblin We recently celebrated a 70th birthday with a dinner for three at The Gates on Roblin, and everything about the evening was just beautiful. The dining room is elegant, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and we were lucky to have a lovely corner table with a wonderful view — the perfect setting for a special occasion. Our server was excellent — warm, funny, and attentive. He offered helpful suggestions, including the beet salad, which I ordered and thoroughly enjoyed. For my main course, I had the prime rib with Yorkshire pudding — it was cooked perfectly and served beautifully. If I had one very small suggestion, it would be to offer a milder option for the horseradish. I enjoy the flavor, but it was quite strong — just a little more kick than I could handle! A gentler version or the choice between mild and hot would have made it perfect. Overall, it was a lovely evening with delicious food, great service, and a truly charming setting. Was invited here to a dinner function from work. Delicious food from the Salad, Main meal Chicken and vegetables, and the Dessert! Definitely will come back again for dinner and try other entries!

Always a nice ambience as dining is split into smaller rooms to cut down on noise. This was a Birthday Dinner but, unfortunately, our Server missed some of our order as we did not get our Appetizer nor did we get the additional veggies that he asked if we wanted to add. We didn't get charged and overally if we had them the amount of food would have been way more than what we could consume. However, it was missed so had to mention these two things as being missed and totally on the Server. Food was still fantastic.
We found the food, service and ambiance to be as expected for a restaurant in this price range. Service from out waiter was second to none. We would recommend The Gates on Roblin to anyone looking for a high end dining experience.

If you are looking for a fancy lunch with family or friends I would definitely go here, it is a little pricey but the food does not disappoint. I came in for the breakfast buffet and the sausages and hashbrowns tasted out of this world. At the crepe station you can either grab Belgian waffles that taste amazing or watch some of their chefs cook up a fresh crepe for you on the spot. The service was amazing and the building feels like a cozy country home on the river.

The Gates On Roblin was the perfect place to hold our intimate family Memorial Gathering to remember our Mother/Grandmother on May 2, 2025! Excellent professional service, atmosphere, and delicious food along with the presentation of it.
Many family members commented through the meal; how wonderful the meal was and location selected. We were a party of 11 and reserved the upstairs room called “The Study” that open to a small balcony. Capacity was perfect for this room.
From the time I reached out online, to The Gates to obtain information, to meeting with the Manager Ray to finalize our evening and meal; it just went so smoothly. I felt so well taken care of for this event, with great personal service offered for details. ie: extension cord, music speaker, projector screen.
We will definitely be back and have already shared our wonderful experience at The Gates this spring with those we know.
