My family and I dined here many, many times prior to Covid. Sunday brunch at the gates has always been a staple in our family.We attended the Sunday brunch a couple weeks ago. We were glad to see that they still offered an array of great options. Carving stations, torpedo shrimp, shrimp cocktail, salmon, fettuccine, breakfast potatoes, omelette station, bacon, homemade soup, salad bar, dessert bar etc.overall the atmosphere, service, experience and food was great!The only negatives I will point out are…1. they ran out of crème brûlée before the brunch was over. (Our absolute favourite and we only got 1 for the whole table - 7 people.. I had asked if they had anymore at 1:00, but they said they were out)2. The eggs Benedict use to be so much better! It seems as though they’re now using a “powder sauce” and making the eggs in forms.We really miss the eggs Benedict they use to make, with the homemade hollandaise sauce.Besides those two minor things, we would highly recommend their Sunday brunch to anyone!We will definitely be back for brunch in the near future!

We enjoyed a lovely celebratory family Sunday brunch at The Gates. The service was exceptional... attentive and friendly. There were many choices for the vegetarian in our group, including a made-to-order Eggs Benny. There were lovely baking selections (muffins, croissants, cinnamon buns, etc.), great breakfast choices (bacon, hash browns, customized omelettes and crepes), and plenty of lunch options (stew, salmon cakes, rosemary chicken, prime rib and salad bar). There were also delicious options for dessert, tea, coffee, juice and soft drinks. We will definitely return to The Gates for their delicious brunch!

A big thank you to Ray and his team at the Gates. Great variety and freshness. My wife loved the freshly sliced smoked salmon. I personally loved the waffles and omelette station.

Over many years we have attended The Gates for many different occasions and the experience has always been gratifying. Our dinner was excellent with the prime rib done to perfection ... and the Calamari was delicious. Service was dignified, friendly and timely. Great ambience. We will look forward to our next occasion. Compliments to the staff and chef!

Food and service was amazing, as expected. It is quite pricey, if it was less I would go to brunch more often, it is fantastic. But at the price point it's a once a year, maybe 2.
Slow service. Room was very cold but got better when asked. Vegetables left a lot to be desired. Tasted like they were just microwaved from frozen. Not a fan of the massive rosemary stalk they place on the potatoes. Overall not terrible but leaves much to be desired with the location/prices.

From the minute you turn into the drive up to the restaurant, you know you are in for a special evening. Our meal was very good, Daniel was an excellent waiter and the ambience was terrific. Already looking forward to our return visit!

We had a great meal and our server was awesome. We know it was Valentines Day and busy . Hopefully next time we would love to have a table upstairs in a much warmer atmosphere than the basement. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a lovely gem! We went for prime rib and it didn't disappoint. Complete with yorkshire pudding, yummy. The restaurant is separated into areas so noise is never an issue. There was several private parties going on and you wouldn't ever know. Our server was very good and I loved he was ok with a little humor, my hubby loves to bug. I had a local tap beer, which I was afforded a small taste first and ended with a blueberry tea that was delicious. Hubby doesn't drink and they happily made him a virgin cocktail. Next time I'm having the dinner for two table side it looked delicious as well.
Truly the best service, as well as food, that I have encountered as a Celiac, in Winnipeg. We came for the Sunday Brunch. They went above and beyond without being asked! All were extremely knowledgeable. Fortunately, I had given them the heads up that one in our party was a celiac in the Notes when I made the reservation on OpenTable. Highly recommend as delicious and very safe for a Celiac too.
We had a wonderful evening at the Gates. Our waiter Daniel was very pleasant and professional. He was able to answer any questions we had. We were a party of 7 which included 2 children. Daniel brought crayons for them and something to Color. The meals we chose were all different from chicken, pickerel, New York strip, beef tenderloin and the special. All meals were delicious and were presented beautifully. We also had 2 appetizers which consisted of the calamari and the baked Brie. Beautifully presented and delicious. I would highly recommend The Gates.

For years The Gates has been our favorite restaurant for special events and just for an evening out. The food is consistently superior, the setting lovely, and the service congenial and attentive. We spent a perfect evening recently with friends.

My wife and I got married at The Gates on Roblin and they provided an extraordinary experience for our wedding. They were incredibly accommodating to every detail and were very willing to allow us to take photos around the venue, as well as decorate our room to our taste. The rooms are very spacious, we were able to dine 16 people comfortably in the Study upstairs. The food was excellent and there were plenty of options for everyone, including vegetarian. I highly recommend the Gates for small to medium size events. I look forward to returning for personal dinner dates.
