Gaffer's Restaurant & Lounge

Quick soup and beer lunch. Bacon cabbage soup was seasoned perfectly! I want another bowl! Defiantly gonna stop here for patio and lunch again!

Went on a Saturday evening around 6:30, the restaurant was not busy, 2 other tables besides four of us. The patio area was busier but not overly busy. 5 minutes before we got any service we all ordered drinks, they brought 1 over, and took an additional 15 minutes to bring the next three. My drink was spilled slightly and the waitress was going to be back with a cloth, 10 minutes later had to ask for one, and had to clean it myself, the cloth remained on the table until we left. This should have been a warning to us all, at this time we ordered our food, which after over an hour and a half never showed, and we did not stay to wait and see if it ever would, our waitress said it was coming right out, on two different occasions, she finally admitted she never even checked. Terrible service, not a particularly great atmosphere and the food, well who knows, my guess sub par like the service. We will not be returning, what was supposed to be a nice drive out to Lockport for a nice evening turned into a huge disappointment.

As a party of 8 we tried it again, we understand sometimes things just go bad so we gave them another chance. Went and sat down and waited 30 mins. No waiting staff, no menus, nothing. Relatively the same as last time which should have been the last. We ended up at Boston pizza in Selkirk, funny thing is the table beside us when we got here also decided to just get up and come here. Walked past all 3 staff members when we left and not a word was said. Don’t waste your time and just go elsewhere!

Went to lounge on an afternoon. there were more servers than guests. Waited for a server for 25 minutes. Then waited for drinks for another 20 minutes. Two of the servers were messed up on drugs is the most likely reason for the entire experience.

Wow..our 1st time here...service was a tad slow (short staffed ) to start but picked up once our orders were taken..the food ...French onion soup, escargot, fish chowder, chicken strips with fries and the Big Daddy burger(oh my goodness, what a loaded burger) was great...the staff..apologetic, friendly and helpful..we will definitely be back.

Straight up waited 20 minutes in the lobby to be seated, rang the bell plenty. Watched as the employees chitchatted about random stuff. They weren’t busy at all. So we left

First & the last time visit at this establishment! Refried fries, the worst ever reuben sandwich with plastic like/ dry cheese. Extra mushrooms were sent back as extremely dry & maybe 1-2 mushrooms. They were ordered as a side dish. Steak sandwich ordred medium-rare came as well done. Despite place being empty, we still had to wait long time for our food...please don't expect much from this place!

First time was underwhelming. It's very apparent they are short staffed, which is reflected in food quality and service. Fish and chip batter was crusty on the outside and soggy on the inside. Everyone's fries seemed like bottom bits, had to almost use a spoon to eat. Our server did her best and one from our group did voice her disappointment with part of her meal. Seems like a nice building, hopefully they can figure something out.

We went to Gaffer’s on Tuesday for their Taco’s and Tequila night, and it was amazing. We had their Brazilian beef tacos and their fish tacos with mango salsa. For $20.00 you get 3 loaded up tacos that are to die for! Our friends got steak dinners, their steaks were perfectly cooked with great flavour, and really good creamy garlic mashed potatoes! This is definitely a great place to go for a night out with friends or date night. They have wing nights on Thursday for only 7.99 a lb definitely coming back for that! Thank you to the staff for the great service and experience!

We went for dinner on Friday, steak night! our server Ashley was fantastic and the new chef Tim is absolutely incredible! The food was top notch, steaks were cooked to perfection and, chef came out to introduce himself and make sure everything was ok. Highly recommended.

This place is an absolute trash bin.
Every cooler is covered in mold, filled with rotten food. There is zero cleanliness or food safety in place, raw fish is left on surfaces with absolutely zero sanitation, and I mean zero, no sanitizer, no wipe downs. The equipment hasn't been properly cleaned or maintained in YEARS, and there is rancid grease and oil left everywhere.
Cross contamination is HIGH, I watched the "chef" grab raw shrimp, not wash his hands, then put his fingers into salt and pepper that gets used to finish dishes, if you have ANY type of food allergy, do not go here, there is nothing being served that is worth getting sick over.
Seafood products left out for 4+ hours on the counter in the heat, not one thing had a production or pull date, there are several items that just sit in dirty pans on the line rotting, and most likely being served to guests.
Straight abusive behaviour towards staff, coworkers verbally abusing and threatening eachother.
This place used to be pretty popping, unfortunate it's being run straight into the ground.

We had a school retired staff luncheon for 25 people. Gaffers were very cooperative with our preferences- the fireplace room and working around our program. They suggested 3 menu items to choose from with a variety of prices. This helped the kitchen get our meals out quickly. They even turned down the background music during our presentation.
Our waitress was polite and efficient. This is the 3 rd time we have got together at Gaffers. Thank you for hosting our event!

I don't normally leave reviews but it was pretty bad. The service was terrible, took an hour to get food, 25 minutes or more for a drink.
We had a few in our party and everyone agreed their food was not flavourful or well prepared. One person ordered a pickerel that was overdone on the outside but cold inside and the fries over done on this one. We also asked for no salt on the fries due to a medical issue and there was so...so had to send that back.
Two others ordered two steak and lobster specials, the lobster was over cooked and bland the potatoes were also bland. I sent back majority of the lobster and steak and the waitress didn't do anything like offer to rectify the situation like ask if I wanted a new one or anything or offer a dessert she also didn't even come and ask how the food was. The wings were the only decent thing and they took an hour to come out...? It used to be a local favourite to eat really disappointed its gone so downhill. I would just go somewhere else.. not worth the long waits, poor service, bland food and expensive food for not a good experience.

Extremely bad service. Bills were incorrect. Server took a long time to get it resolved. Coffee was so late in being offered, most of us refused it. We were 20 and all pre-ordered so there was no reason for the confusion and multiple errors!
