I watched as the people in the kitchen made my hot dog. They didn't use gloves or tongs when handling my food, instead I watched them use their bare hands to grab my hot dog weiner and place it in the bun. Then they proceeded to wipe their hands on their pants before touching my food again.

I mentioned this to the girl at the till and seemed unphased by it and told me "the heat melts our gloves so we don't use them" ..... this is why you use tongs... not bare hands with heaps of germs under your fingernails while handling other people's food.

I will not be returning to this establishment.

I haven't been here in ages and it was just as I remembered! I also hadn't had bubble gum ice-cream in a million years and it was so good!

2024/07/03 Skinner’s in Lockport was great. We went to the river location by the locks. The place was spotless and the staff were very good. I had the BLT ? with large fries. My better 1/2 had chili. I am a BIG hot dog ? fan but the one at Skinner’s was one of the best todate. The dog has a nice crisp when you bite into it. The home fries were fresh out the frier. A nice thick fry that wasn’t overly cooked. The restaurant has been in the same location since 1929. The pictures on the walls are outstanding with some being quite old. Now desert. I don’t often have desert but ice cream and especially Chapmans ice cream is my downfall. I had a blue liquorice and super hero ice cream cone. Very, very good. My better half had Algonquin canoe ice cream cone. Also very good. The place wasn’t that busy and we were there about 5:15 PM. The washroom was clean and well kept. As for price we spent about $40 which included tip and the ice cream.
Don’t forget to take the time to go for a walk along the river back which is directly across the road.

Al in all a very good experience and well worth the short drive from the city. ????

Parking: A few potholes in the parking lot that were easily avoidable.

Kid-friendliness: There is a small arcade attached to the restaurant.

Wheelchair accessibility: Very wheelchair friendly

Absolutely phenomenal! Skinner’s Restaurant has single-handedly redefined my concept of a hotdog. These aren't your average hotdogs—these are gourmet delights that burst with flavor in every bite. Each hotdog is like a little flavor bomb that has me questioning every hotdog I’ve ever eaten before.

And the ice cream—oh, the ice cream! It’s so divine that I’ve sworn off ice cream from anywhere else. Seriously, I won’t touch the stuff unless it’s from Skinner’s. I’m willing to drive 30 minutes just to get my hands on a scoop (or three) of this creamy perfection. When the craving hits, there’s no other option.

Our family has officially added Skinner’s to our “go-to” list whenever we’re heading North. This place is a treasure, a culinary gem that makes every trip worthwhile. If you haven’t been, drop everything and go now. Your taste buds will thank you!
