Lisa's Restaurant at the Asessippi Inn

This place is so horrible! The room was dirty, the carpet was old, worn & filthy. The bathroom was disgusting. We weren’t told that their was a bar below the room we would be in, despite telling them when we made the reservation that we were a family traveling with small children. Two nights in a row with none of us getting any sleep until well after 2 a.m. We finally cut our trip short & left.

We didn’t book as just passing through, just wandered in and asked for a room and the staff were very friendly and nice. Very large room. A little dated, but everything was very clean and tidy. It is above a bar, but there was no noise even though it was Friday night (the host did warn us there might be a bit of noise). It was late April so off season too. Good value for money.

Had two guys stay there in two different rooms. Both had NO AIR CONDITIONING as advertised, the rooms were both dusty, one had a broken window. We travel accrosd Western Canada (big cities and small towns) and have never had an experience like this one. Room rates were higher then 4 stars in Regina.

Booked this because we couldn’t get anything else after skiing. Had to go into the bar to get the keys, was shown to our room which was not cleaned. Was put in a double bed room that was freezing while it was cleaned, which basically was making the bed and taking out the garbage. I’m fairly certain the sheets were not changed. Nothing was wiped/disinfected. Dust build up by the window. The toilet seat had pee dried up on it. I thankfully brought a container of disinfectant wipes and wiped everything. Staff knocked on our door after an hour to check about the neighbours noise, she told us they were local women having a ladies night. She didn’t have a mask (which is law during code red covid), and pulled her sweat shirt over her hand and covered her mouth. Also gatherings of people was also illegal with covid restrictions then and they still allowed it. They constantly were stomping in the hall and downstairs to smoke every 20 mins until around 1am. Paper thin walls. No door on the bathroom. At the end of the day, we didn’t expect much booking this place. But it was very overpriced.

I had the pleasure staying in Asessippi Inn with my friends. It was our first time visiting Russell, and a huge thanks to Heather for making us feel right at home. had an absolute good time and enjoyed our stay. will definitely be back with more friends!
