Friends brought a baguette, a liaf of chocolate, cherry bread, and a cruffin. Fantastic! Absolutely wonderful!
Wow, the bread was so good and friendly staff
I’ve been a repeat customer of Old Church Bakery for years! I was first introduced to them when we found them at the St. Norbert Farmers’ Market years ago, and we fell in love with the almond croissants and bordelaise bread. We made the drive out to Steinbach one morning from Winnipeg just to come here and found they have so much more selection than the market! The cruffins and cream puffs are definitely a highlight, and we love how fresh and high-quality their baked goods are overall! The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. If you’ve never visited Old Church Bakery, please go - you won’t be disappointed!
The staff is always very friendly! The baking …. Is incomparable! Absolutely one of my favourite bakeries in Manitoba! Definitely try the cruffins!
beautiful display. excellent and friendly service, and the baked goods were delicious! wonderful sourdough carrot cake!
So while the pastries, bread and coffee are great here, the service is cold and unfriendly, they make you feel like a bother. It ruins the experience so I've decided to go elsewhere going forward.
Edit. I appreciate the response, but there's not much more to say besides what I already included, on multiple occasions service was cold and unfriendly, which in turn made me feel like my being there was unwelcomed. There were 2 positive experiences out of 10, and at the cost, it just doesn't make sense to keep going. I recommend customer service training because what you're offering to the public is an experience.
Old Church Bakery – Where Bread Becomes Religion, and You Leave a Changed Human
There I was, a humble trucker on my day off, just looking to grab some bread and maybe avoid making direct eye contact with anyone. Instead, I walked into Old Church Bakery in Steinbach, Manitoba—and immediately had a full-blown spiritual awakening.
The moment that door opened, I was hit with a smell so pure, so warm, so emotionally disarming—it transported me back to childhood memories of mom or grandma baking bread. Except this time, my nipples got hard. Not sorry.
The Smoked Gouda & Caramelized Onion sourdough? That thing gave me a French kiss I didn’t know I needed. Like French onion soup and a wood-fired angel had a gluten baby, and I took a bite of its crusty little halo.
Then came the white chocolate passionfruit “cream egg” cruffin and the paska cruffin. These weren’t just pastries—they were centerfold material. Not your average baked goods. These were pastry sirens, singing sweet sugar songs that lured me into a frosting-fueled trance. One bite and I was checking my bank account to see if I could buy the entire establishment.
The bread shelf literally winked at me. It whispered, “Come on, Daddy… you know you want to take us all home.” And I did. Or at least as many as I could without needing to sell a kidney.
The vibe inside? Warm, rustic, and suspiciously wholesome. Like you stepped into a Hallmark movie—but with better lighting, more carbs, and zero plot holes. And the people? Nicest humans on earth. I’m not saying they’re angels, but if they started glowing, I wouldn’t be shocked.
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill bakery. It’s artisanal, emotional, and borderline inappropriate in the best way. It doesn’t just feed your body—it touches your soul in ways no loaf should be legally allowed to.
Also, if anyone ever tells you “bread is just bread,” slap them with this photo and send them straight here for redemption.
10 out of 10. Would absolutely lick their windows again while moaning softly at the bread racks.
If you’re looking for something more than just carbs—something that grabs you by the feelings and doesn’t let go—get yourself to Old Church Bakery. Just… bring tissues.
This place makes me want to move to Steinbach and never leave

Probably the best loaf of bread I have ever had. Pastries and coffee are 👌🏻 as well
Wonderful vegetarian options! Lovely display of baked goods, customer service is knowledgeable but could use abit more personality. The chai tea is lovely, the spinach and ricotta croissant was very tasty although would have tasted better warmed up and not cold. The Bananas Foster Cruffin was to die for not too heavy, extremely tasty and fluffy. The atmosphere is very grab and go although they have tables it's abit loud to sit and enjoy. It's quite the busy little joint.
Had a meeting with the owner, but right when you walk in, it smells amazing! We got many different bakery items and they were all delicious!
Excellent bakery.
Servers not very friendly. Asked if I could get icing on my cinnamon bun and the girl was so unfriendly with her answer, it was unbelievable. Won't be back due to that.
