Cantler's Riverside Inn

So I saw this place advertised on social media and from all the rave reviews I had to try Cantlers for myself.
First of all we were warmly greeted at the door and promptly seated because there was hardly anyone there. We ordered water to start but when it came out, at first sip we could tell it was tap water ewww!! Next we ordered starters, fried shrimp and crab dip. Let me tell you!! I received 6 Gordon fried shrimp from the frozen food section of Walmart priced at a ridiculous $17. Looked like something off of a kids meal. The crab dip was ok but we didn't detect any actual crab in the dip. It was saved by the delicious loaves of bread that came with it.
For entrees, we ordered prime rib and the fish and chip special. The fish had no flavor but the sweet potato fries and baked potato were good. As for the prime rib, I ordered it medium well. When it came out I spent more time cutting off all the fat then getting any real meat. We were so disappointed with this meal especially after driving close to 4 hours to try this place and realizing we could of stayed in our own home town.

Soft crab sandwich, spiders in my basement are bigger and only one tiny crab on the roll, shrimp salad sandwich, celery chunks bigger than shrimp…..and not given choice of bread for sandwich’s. Broiled seafood platter was two shrimp, two scallops a piece of rockfish smaller than a dollar bill folded in half. Waiter was awesome and very attentive. Thank god for the hush puppies on the plate as they took up three quarters of it. Orange crush served in a Dixie up….. Come on people, you guys can do better than this?

A wonderful family-run restaurant been going to since I was little. No one does seafood quite like Cantler's! Make sure to try the Crab Imperial, it is literally off the charts & not expensive considering the current retail price of one pound of lump backfin crab meat (last time I bought one it was $60 per pound).

We went to Cantler’s Riverside Inn for dinner. It was just what we have been craving for the past few years. The crabs, crab cakes, shrimp were delicious! We will fly back across country just to eat here. The waitresses were wonderful & and very friendly. I understand that it’s a local favorite & having grown up in Maryland, I can see why.

Great crabs and good service. Prices were in line with the rest of the area. Crabs had a great spice to them and didn't need anymore seasoning. Highly recommend!

Saturday visit around 2:30. Cream of crab soup was very good. Crab cake sandwich was bland for my taste and fries were average. Husband said the same about crab cake platter. Selection of sides not great. We sat inside and found it to be like an old fish camp not handsomely decorated. Was pretty cold, large a/c unit blowing on my table which cooled food off quickly. Our waitress was good no complaints. The place was crowded and parking is difficult, 20 minute wait not too bad. I think if we come back during the week and sit outside we may have a better experience. Willing to try 1 more visit.

Really wanted to like this place. We got fried clams and soft shell crabs. Everything was salty. Except the asparagus which had almost no taste. The food was cooked well, but it didn't wow. The location is beautiful and the prices reflect it. Might try it again, probably won't.

The food was delicious! I loved the crab dip and chowder. I forgot my phone, and the staff helped me keep it. Thank you for that! (And the cute photo you guys left, hahahaha.) Service-wise, 10/10.
