Service was quite good. Food was well below average. Grilled chicken had an odd taste like the grill hadn't been cleaned in ages. Salad was wilted. MD crab soup had some spice but was under salted. Calamari was salty.

The variety at Federal House is useful when you're trying to please a diverse set of palates, and while the beer selection is nice, there are also plenty of other options at good prices such that you should have your fill of very good food and drink. It's a classic, historic "all wood, all the time" spot near the waterfront, and the atmosphere was perfect for our meal. Service was average, not inattentive but comically intrusive. I will happily acknowledge you if you will wait five freaking seconds instead of just barging in and interrupting us mid-sentence. And you can't get above two stars with me when you are putting credit card surcharges on the bill - a trick you won't find disclosed on their online menus. That's a terrible business practice ... because it's 2024. Charge the amount you need to be profitable. You got your extra $3 out of me, and in return you won't see me again even though the food and drinks were actually really good!

We are locals. This was our first visit. Had lunch. The fish tacos (halibut) were phenomenal! Cooked perfectly and a huge portion. Steak salad was great. Will be back.

Avoid if you're looking for decent fresh food. I ordered the crabcake, which most likely had filler in it as there was at least one fish bone that was in it. The vegetables were pale and had clearly been sitting in a vat of water and lacked seasoning. Definitely tasted like Galley food! Rice was super overcooked. It's definitely not worth the charge of $29.Lastly, they add a credit card surcharge.The bartender was okay. Minimal interaction. It's probably a better place to grab a drink.
