I travel to Annapolis several times a year and always have a positive experience with the Historic Inns, no matter which of the three properties I stay at. The location can't be beat, the accommodations are roomy and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Fantastic all around.
The Historic Inn of Annapolis is always a delight—friendly staff, cozy charm, and exceptional service from the moment you arrive. Such a wonderful place to stay. We truly love it here.
Fair warning - SUPER OVERPRICED valet. The hotel is nice and in a great location, we've been going here for the last 20 years, and quality has been consistent. They recently started charging $50 per night for valet parking?! - you're better off parking in a garage and just walking.
It's a shame because the valet team is really nice, but the price hike is unreasonable, and we certainly won't be using them moving forward.
I get it, parking in this area is a nightmare, but it feels like the hotel is just taking advantage of an impossible situation, and when given the opportunity to do the right thing and be a reasonable partner to their guests, they chose not to.
First, when you contact these hotels (3) please know that if you call an 800 number, it is likely Expedia. If you use the 410 number, you can get the actual hotel staff. I suggest you use the 410 number. Rooms are great, location also, staff good- shoutout to Connor for being exceptional.
Great location, historic Inn.
🧱As we know and do not think Mr. Donald Trump respected the strong societies of Algeria we reach anywhere and anytime🚪
Stay here 4+ times a year
. . . can't miss. Location, ease, ghost debris. Annapolis at its very best
There are three hotels to choose from. We are staying in the Robert Johnson house. We love the room setup and history. The staff has been amazing and rooms perfect. You will have to valet if you stay here as there is limited parking around each one of the hotel. Highly recommend staying here. It is close to eveything in downtown Annapolis.
We need to change reservation from Fri Sept 19 to Sat Sept 20th due to change in Thomas Pt lighthouse tour.
Manager denied request thru Expedia. When I called hotel directly they said they have availability for the same room. This is a very high end, nice inn but zero customer focus or consideration. If they were booked up one day later, understand completly but they were not. Terrible customer focus here. Sad.
On August 18, 2025 My wife and I booked 2 nights only 24 hrs before our first night stay would be in Annapolis. We were traveling by boat down the Chesapeake the same week Huricane Erin was coming up the east coast. Unfortunately the Huricane decided to stay to the west and bring strong winds to the Maryland Coast. We decided to go back the way we came and head back north and cancel our stay in Annapolis. I canceled through Expedia and they refused to give me a refund because I didn't give them the proper 72 hr notice. It would have been impossible to give the required notice since we only booked the stay 24 hrs prior and had to cancel due to weather. I called the property and Connor said there was nothing he could do to get me a refund and that they would stand firm on not refunding me any money.
If I would have booked 6 months in advance and they were completely booked I would understand no refund, but they were empty and I only made the reservation 24 hrs prior and they have to charge me full price. I think that is taking advantage of your customer. I have stayed here before, but will never again in the future

Beautiful and updated with a perfect location for walkability.
What a beautiful inn! Located right in the center of everything with plenty of excellent dining choices. Room was comfortable but a tad small as I had ordered a standard double. My friend had a king which was superb. We used valet service at the Governor Calvert Inn which is also where you check in. I would definitely stay here again. Such a wonderful stay!
I stayed one night at the Historic Inns of Annapolis (Governor Calvert House) for a quick leisure getaway, and the experience exceeded expectations. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of downtown Annapolis & Main Street, steps from the State House and within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the waterfront.
The room (2 Double/2 Full) was comfortable, clean, and full of character. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, and check-in was smooth and efficient.
Highly recommend this property if you're looking for a historic and convenient base to explore Annapolis. I’d definitely return!
Disappointing stay so far, with one night left to go.
We checked in Friday, and within hours I ruined a pair of pants due to bleach residue left all over the bathroom counter while brushing my teeth and getting ready for dinner.
The bathrooms were dirty, and the bed sheets and duvet were visibly unclean. I contacted the front desk Friday and again Sunday morning. Despite being told a manager would reach out, no one has followed up. This is the third time I’ve tried to speak with the manager, who is apparently never available.
The front desk staff are friendly but unable to resolve anything. The location is great, but the rooms are poorly maintained, the AC is extremely loud, and the linens and bathrooms are far from clean.
- beautiful location
- historic rooms are very nice
- parking is a nightmare. Use the valet. The valets are super informative and knowledgeable about the hotels and area.
- if I can come back, I’ll stay here again.
