DO NOT GO HERE!!! The service is awful and the manager is rude! This place takes no accountability when they mess up, won't attempt to fix it when you address a problem, it's super expensive and the food is mediocre at best.
I took my 7-year-old daughter here for a tea date after a friend highly recommended it. Unfortunately, our experience was vastly different.
We had a reservation for 2:00 p.m., yet still had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. While the hostess did thank us for our patience, it was the first of several frustrating moments.
Once seated, our server briefly introduced herself, Veronica, and then abruptly walked away to help another table—without asking if it was our first time or if we had any questions. Since this was our first visit, some basic guidance would have been helpful.
I ordered the afternoon tea and clearly stated we would be sharing, since I was dining with my 7-year-old and didn’t expect her to need a full tea setup. I also specifically asked if, when sharing, we could both choose our own tea and scone, and was told yes. I chose a caffeine-free tea for my daughter (noting it was for her) and a black tea for myself.
The server returned and placed the teas on the table without identifying which was which. I assumed they had been placed correctly. After my daughter finished her tea, I tasted it and realized our drinks had been switched — meaning she had unknowingly consumed the caffeinated one. I politely brought this to the server’s attention, and her response was, “I didn’t make the tea.” No apology. No offer to fix the issue.
When our tea tower arrived, the server gave a quick rundown of what was included, but never clarified the portion size. As a first-time visitor, I had no way of knowing whether the tower was meant for one or two people.
Shortly after, we received our check, and I noticed we were charged for two full afternoon teas, even though I had been clear from the beginning that we’d be sharing. I pointed this out and reminded the server of our earlier conversation. She said she misunderstood and explained that we had been given two tea setups on the same tower. Again, this was not communicated, and no apology or solution was offered.
At that point, I asked to speak with the manager and explained everything — how I had asked if we could share, how the tea mix-up could’ve been avoided, and why caffeine was an issue for my daughter. Her response? That I should have known it was two tea setups because “there were two of everything.” Then she added, “Well, it looked like you had no problem finishing the food anyway.”
I was stunned. Not only was there zero accountability or concern, but the comment felt unnecessary and downright insulting. I didn’t want to make a scene with my daughter present, so I paid the bill in full — even though it took them over 10 minutes just to process my card.
I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. I will not be returning, and I would never recommend this place to anyone.
We had a wonderful tea for Mother's Day that our daughters. The food, service, and atmosphere were SO delightful. We would definitely go again!
Every time we visit Annapolis, we make it a point to stop at Reynolds Tavern—and it never disappoints. Nestled right in the heart of historic downtown, this charming spot is truly one of the most memorable and unique dining experiences in the city.
The moment you step onto the property, you're transported to another era. The historic setting, with its 18th-century architecture, candlelit tables, and period decor, makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s the kind of place where you slow down, appreciate your surroundings, and enjoy the experience as much as the food.
Whether you’re seated in the cozy tavern rooms, the beautiful outdoor courtyard, or having afternoon tea upstairs, the ambiance is always perfect. There’s a warm, welcoming charm that wraps around you—from the creaking floors and antique chandeliers to the friendly, attentive staff who seem to genuinely enjoy sharing the history of the building.
Now, onto the food—consistently excellent. Their afternoon tea service is outstanding, with fresh scones, delicate sandwiches, and a wide selection of flavorful teas served in elegant teapots. But even beyond tea, the main menu is full of delicious, thoughtfully prepared dishes. The crab cakes and pot pies are local favorites, and I’ve never had a meal here that was anything less than wonderful.
We’ve come for both lunch and dinner, and each time the service has been professional and friendly without feeling rushed. The staff strikes that perfect balance of being attentive while letting you enjoy the experience at your own pace.
Reynolds Tavern is not just a meal—it’s a step into Annapolis’ rich history, served with charm and grace. Whether you're a history buff, a food lover, or just someone who enjoys a peaceful and refined setting, this place will absolutely leave a lasting impression.
Every time we return, we’re reminded why it has become one of our favorite stops in the city. It’s tradition now—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Greta experience having afternoon tea! It’s a wonderful, relaxing service.
I always come here for afternoon tea with friends! The amount of food you get is very filling and I love the scones! Great variety of tea and desserts.
Had afternoon tea. The service was great and everything was delicious!

We were very excited to stop by for afternoon tea because of the building’s history. While the building is beautiful and most of its original decor was kept, the service was horrible. We wanted to go to the pub but it was closed so we went to the beer garden. My husband wanted tea but the bar tender said we can’t have tea outside and must have it inside. He also said that my service dog (8 lb, quiet, calm and stays in a sling bag across my body) wasn’t allowed. We explained that she is a service dog and he said that he’s fine with it but “they won’t let you in inside”. We went inside anyways as it is illegal to deny entry to a service dog. A tallish, older gentleman just looked at us when we walked in. We explained that we wanted afternoon tea and some food. He rudely told his staff to take us to a table. As we walked in, he yelled after us, “That dog cannot go in”. I told him my dog is a service animal, to which he replied “What for?”. I explained what she was trained to do and he accused me of trying to bring an emotional support dog in. I politely explained again what she does for my disability, which is not considered emotional support. He responded by rolling his eyes and waved me off. His staff took us to the tea room, which was the only room downstairs. There were about 8 tables and the decor was kept to a bare minimum to reflect the history of the building. The server who took our order wasn’t as rude as the gentleman outside (who I assume is the owner or manager due to his apparent power trip and rude treatment of his staff), but was just slightly better. By then, we were so uncomfortable we couldn’t relax and literally lost our appetite. We had an earl grey tea, which was very good and better than average, and wine then promptly left. As we walked out the door, the manager or owner made it a point not to look at us or say bye. I wish I was rude enough to walk out the second he condescendingly and disrespectfully questioned me because the entire 30 minutes we spent there was 30 minutes too many. I would have paid triple the price of our tea and wine for someone to warn me how rude, nasty, unpleasant and impolite the manager/owner is. Stay far away if you want to have a comfortable, relaxing afternoon tea or meal. It’s nicer to appreciate the historical building from the outside. Unfortunately, I was too disgusted and discomfited by the miserable manager/owner to even take photos for this review.

Absolutely fabulous spur-of-the moment lunch stop. Mussels appetizer, shrimp linguini, smoked Manhattan, and old-fashioned. Needed more bread to sop up the leftover mussel sauce. Divine!

Were the first and only diners when they opened at 5. Historic dining atmosphere. Great food at pretty affordable prices from what I thought it would be when I saw the rooms. Not the food, the prices!

Deceitful! My group of 4 had a lovely lunch and drinks but when it came time to pay the bill we were waiting for 30ish minutes. We eventually got up to find our server and gave him our credit card. He then came back with the receipt for us to sign but no itemized list. We added a 20% tip and then when he came back to collect it we asked him for the itemized receipt that was never given to us. Turns out they auto applied a 20% tip to our bill without us knowing. So we tipped 20% TWICE. I was surprised as restaurant’s usually only do this for large group and ours was only 4. I reached out to Reynolds Tavern to amend the situation and I have not heard back. If they are going to include an auto tip, they NEED to provide an itemized receipt that shows a tip was already applied. Otherwise that’s deceitful.
I love Annapolis and its history so of course Reynolds tavern is on my radar. I have given their dinner and now their high tea time both a chance and they have great service but not a whole lot to eat for someone who has cancer and dietary restrictions(gluten free and vegetarian). It was really nice to watch my friends enjoy all the fingerling dessert and sandwiches at high tea but unfortunately all I could get was a salad(which I’m kind of burnt out on). For the price of eating in Annapolis I wish there were more options than a salad or chefs who are willing to concoct something for you…
Food and drinks: Not a lot of options for people with dietary restrictions

Service was phenomenal! We requested a mocktail, which they do NOT have on the menu, and the bartender delivered. I knew it's a strange request, but some of us wanted the fun of having a drink in hand and the tastiness without the alcohol. It was delicious, the food was amazing as well all around a wonderful atmosphere!
