A complete disappointment. Mediocre food at high prices. Just okay service. An Unengaged staff. Meh ambiance. Bottom line: this was our first time trying Severn Inn after moving to the area 2 years ago—it is also our last visit based on tonight’s experience.

We made reservations for four on Resy. Arrived in this white table cloth restaurant only to be seated by the teenaged hostesses at a bar table. I guess they didn’t feel like remaking one of the nice tables after we left, so we sat at a bare wooden table without all the other attractive features of the attractive dining room just a few feet away.

The only highlight was a smoked salmon flatbread app. Other than too much sauce, the taste was very good.

One guest ordered a cider… Only available in a can… None on tap. The cider arrived at room temperature. Why have specialty beers on the menu if you are not going to make any effort to keep them cold? The place was barely busy with only a few tables filled. Therefore, they did not suddenly have a rush on the cider as an excuse for being out of cold ones.

After some ho hum Caesar salads (hard to mess those up) the food arrived: two decent cheeseburgers, but one of the two was undercooked even though both guests ordered them cooked medium.

I ordered the filet mignon. What arrived was slathered with a generic brown gravy that looked and tasted like it was from a jar. My daughter called it “TV dinner gravy”. The filet was served with an average creamed spinach and Denny’s style home fries. But all of that was sloppily COVERED with that lame gravy. At a $56 price point no self-respecting chef in the industry would send out a filet that looked like that. I presume the real chef was off and it was just a group of generic kitchen staff working on a Sunday evening after the holidays? Since our table was never visited by a manager, that suggests there was zero supervision this evening, and no one was there to do quality assurance on this mediocre presentation.

Like too many restaurants with a waterfront view, Severn Inn is one of those that appears to have completely given up on food quality because the guests keep coming in for the view. Unfortunately, for them, there are so many other alternatives in the Annapolis area with better food. If you want a waterfront view with high food quality, choose the Choptank instead.

I am particularly frustrated at the price point. Based on the misleading website, I booked this room as a farewell dinner for two kids returning to their respective homes after being with us for the holidays. We all ended up with a disappointing meal with hohum holiday ambience served by a staff of unshaven 20 something wearing T-shirts and zip up fleece jackets. Absolutely inconsistent with the impression that one gets from their website which tricks the Reeder into believing this is a fine dining restaurant, punctuated by a fine dining menu and prices.

I might have ended this review with a recommendation to come here only to have a beer or two and an appetizer while enjoying a lovely view of the Severn river, and then go elsewhere for dinner. but at these unnecessarily elevated price points I cannot even recommend that.

Great experience stopping in for lunch. Everything was really good, particularly the brisket nachos. Would certainly return for dinner sometime.

We had a catered lunch for a 90th birthday celebration for my mom, 19 people attended. They had preprinted menus for us and were very accommodating. We had an open bar and the wait service was great. The food was excellent too. They had two large tables for us with table cloths close to the bar right next to the windows. Jami the general manager was very easy to work with. Would highly recommend..

First time visiting there. Took my family out. For appetizers, one of us had the wings, 2 of us had the cream of crab soup (so delicious), and the one remaining had the regular crab soup (it was good). For the main course, 3 of us had the lobster pasta and 1 had the reuben. For the lobster pasta, it needed more sauce and the pasta was bland; it was ok. The reuben was really good but what my son really enjoyed out of that meal was the ketchup; he said it was like a mixture of ketchup and apple cider vinegar combined. For drinks, 1 had a sprite (they only have coke products and 3 of us of the Arnold Palmer (it was just ok, it could've been sweeter). Our waiter was great. The only thing I noticed wrong is that he could've given us a little more time to eat our appetizers before bringing the main course. Would I go again? Yes, I want to try their brunch buffet.
This is a solid 4.

If you're young or you have kids this is not a good place for you, specially on Sundays. We went there on Sunday from Washington DC and we didn't know we have to get brunch from the buffetl!!! They didn't have that much food either it's even less than 3-star hotel breakfast and they charge $55 per person which is very high for this buffet. There is definitely not that many options for kids for sure. I'm not saying all of the the staff but most of them are with attitude, ours was good.when we get there the girl in front give us attitude even after 10 minutes our table wasn't ready outside. We asked from another person to make a table and we didn't just walked in we had a reservation too... In general services like the middle of the road restaurants. view is very beautiful

A wonderful spot for a date night or elevated causal dinner. I would recommend having a reservation if you plan on dining in the evening however they had no issues seating others who did not have a reservation. Everything we ordered was wonderful. I would particularly recommend the crab deviled eggs as a starter and the lobster pasta as a main. Servers were kind and attentive. Food came to table quickly. We will definitely be back!

The absolute best in the Annapolis area. A perfect view of the water as well as the Naval Academy. What ever you select for your meal is tasty and fresh. My crab cake sandwich was pure crab. Drinks are chilled even if you are just ordering ice tea. They have no problem making you fresh decaf coffee. I can't recommend this beautiful inn enough. Try it because you will LOVE IT ❤️

Been going here for years. Not happy with the turn it's taking. I definitely get that restaurants are under huge pressure these days with mounting costs but I think they can do better. Had a crabcake. Backfin meat no lump crab at all. Taste just not great. Had the trout spread appetizer. So overloaded with dill you couldn't taste the fish. No more charcuterie appetizer which is sad. And jalapeños in things like deviled eggs??? And taco entres??? You can get food loaded with jalapeños all over town as well as tacos. Annapolis is positively exploding with Mexican restaurants, mostly mediocre. Does an upscale, beautiful place like Severn Inn really need taco entrees??? Jalapeños randomly in dishes that don't need them?? Deviled eggs have a wonderful flavor, why cancel with a spicy pepper that will overwhelm it??
Anyway, can't say that we were impressed. Had Sunday brunch there a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. Severn Inn knows how to do it better. How about a little more Maryland flavor and less tacos and lessjalapeños. Make the crab cakes with a little jumbo lump please!

This is a fantastic restaurant with gorgeous views. I had another pleasant evening with friends dining right on the water. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was perfect. Attentive, right on time, courteous, and just a really nice guy. We were also treated to a pair of blue herons flattering each other. It was a beautiful evening and I can't wait to return.
