There's a reason this is pretty much the only place I eat at.
The sushi here is really good. My wife and I visited to get a quick bite and ordered 3 rolls. All 3 were Yama specialty rolls - Paradise, Ocean, and Pearl. We liked all.of them. My favorite was the Paradise roll. It was made with tempura shrimp and mango...very tasty.
The service was great. The server came to the table ready to serve very shortly after we were seated. We placed our order and the food came shortly thereafter.
It had been a few years since coming back to this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. My only regret was not being able to remember the rolls that I had previously as I remember enjoying them. There was also another sushi preparation Yama is popular for and I couldn't remember that either. I will have to figure that out for next time and come back to write another review. All in all I would definitely recommend for sushi lovers. We could definitely tell the place continues to be popular with all of the traffic in and out. Let's definitely keep thos restaurant going. It is a gem!
Very lively and great service!
We loved it here! Sushi was fantastic, especially the phoenix roll. Waitress was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We ordered several different rolls and loved all of them, will definitely stop by again when we are in the area.
Extremely nasty lady at check out counter when I order my carry out..... Was a long time customer, but I've had it with her nasty attitude.... Not going back.
We’ve been longtime fans of Yama Sushi Bar, often ordering takeout and already familiar with their fantastic menu and impeccable quality. Last Friday, my wife and I decided to dine in, and we’re so glad we did! We arrived around 8:20 PM on a busy Friday night, yet luck was on our side—we were seated quickly despite the packed house.
To start, we indulged in our all-time favorite appetizer, the Dinosaur Egg—a must-try for anyone visiting! For our main course, we stuck with our usual pick, the Love Boat, a beautifully presented sushi and sashimi platter that never disappoints. The course begins with a fresh salad, followed by comforting miso soup. Then, the star arrives: an elegant wooden boat filled with three pieces each of five different sushi varieties, three pieces each of five sashimi selections, and two delicious rolls of our choice. The display is simply stunning.
One of the standout qualities of Yama is their incredible commitment to freshness. I’ve never once encountered even the faintest fishy smell—everything tastes pristine and well-balanced. Their sushi differs slightly from traditional Japanese or Korean styles, as the wasabi isn’t placed beneath the fish on the shari the rice. However, this actually works in favor of customization since there are generous wasabi portions on the boat, allowing diners to adjust to their own preference.
Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and honestly, it makes us want to come back even more often! Whether you're a sushi aficionado or just looking for a consistently great dining spot, Yama delivers on quality, taste, and presentation
Love the food here! Service is always on point, presentation is great! Thank you 🤤

Fast seating, fast service, and short time waiting for food. Miso soup was average, similar to what you get at Tsunami. As an appetizer, we ordered the Dragon Egg, which was fantastic, a 9/10 for me - it was just surprisingly delicious, and I would definitely get it again.
We ordered the Goldfish Roll, which wasn't as crunchy as expected but was still tasty; the Alaska, which was fresh but not particularly special; the Ocean, which was great but certainly not spicy; and the Paradise, which was definitely everyone's consensus favorite - sweet mango paired with crispy shrimp tempura and a flavorful tuna topping.
In general, the consistency in size and shape of the sushi was somewhat all over the place, and despite it, the taste and texture was good nonetheless.
I would highly recommend grabbing both the Dragon Egg and the Paradise Roll your first time around!

I was so excited to come here after seeing some reviews, but was left extremely underwhelmed. Being from Hawaii I’ve had some of the best Chicken Katsu, and after just getting back from Thailand I had to have more, but this honestly was the worst chicken katsu I have ever had, the seasoning wasn’t right at all. I did give 1 star because my husband ordered the spicy scallop roll and that tasted the best out of what we ordered . His spicy California was subaverage at best (we’ve had better from Safeway and Food Lion). One of the other reasons we came here was because they had matcha cheesecake, but after our meal was underwhelming at best we decided not to even try the matcha cheesecake because we didn’t want to be further disappointed.

If you want great sushi in Annapolis Yama is one of the great places to go to! Wait staff was friendly, prices were average and the sushi was delicious. They have outdoor seating if you want to bring your dog, but you have to order inside. They do not have weight staff for the two outside tables.

The sushi is good, the wait can take the fun put of it. They did away with the dessert cheesecake bites when you pay...but the food is always fresh, and consistent. Very family friendly.
