Some of the best sushi I've had in a while, Annapolis is lucky to have them. And thank you for the tiny dessert at the end!

Their sushi is delicious and their prices absolutely cannot be beat for the level of quality that you receive! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic sushi place in Annapolis.

This place is amazing, truly one of the best sushi restaurants. Always go after the Maryland renaissance festival. The gold fish roll is a favorite with many other non sushi options as well.

The sushi is good, but the chicken and beef teriyaki and both bland. It was unseasoned meat covered in watery teriyaki sauce. Only other the sushi from this place

This place truly deserves five stars, for the quality of the food especially for the price service and vibe. Fish tastes fresh and the rolls are not skimpy. Soup bowls filled to top too. Ten out of ten highly recommend when passing anywhere near Annapolis. The Dino egg is a cute idea and fun to get once. Lunch specials even more wallet friendly and tempura appt is under $6 for veggie, $7 for three shrimp with 3 veg!

Tucked into Annapolis, Yama is the kind of unassuming sushi bar that wins you over without theatrics. Both of my lunchtime visits have been comfortably busy, the room split between locals catching up over miso and businessmen hashing out deals over lunch plates. The soundtrack is a gentle stream of Japanese music— occasionally drowned out by conversation, but never enough to break the spell.
Service here is quietly superb: efficient, friendly, and never overbearing. The lunch specials are a steal— soup, salad, and a generous plate of sushi that’s fresh, balanced, and well-cut. On one visit, I strayed from my usual and went for the salmon teriyaki lunch plate. It arrived tender, lightly glazed, and as satisfying as the sushi.
The chefs pay attention— both to the food and the people eating it— and send you off with a genuine “thank you” that lingers just as pleasantly as the meal. For us, Yama feels less like a discovery and more like the start of a ritual. Five stars.

There's a reason this is pretty much the only place I eat at.
Restaurantji Recommends
The sushi here is really good. My wife and I visited to get a quick bite and ordered 3 rolls. All 3 were Yama specialty rolls - Paradise, Ocean, and Pearl. We liked all.of them. My favorite was the Paradise roll. It was made with tempura shrimp and mango...very tasty.
The service was great. The server came to the table ready to serve very shortly after we were seated. We placed our order and the food came shortly thereafter.
It had been a few years since coming back to this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. My only regret was not being able to remember the rolls that I had previously as I remember enjoying them. There was also another sushi preparation Yama is popular for and I couldn't remember that either. I will have to figure that out for next time and come back to write another review. All in all I would definitely recommend for sushi lovers. We could definitely tell the place continues to be popular with all of the traffic in and out. Let's definitely keep thos restaurant going. It is a gem!
Very lively and great service!
We loved it here! Sushi was fantastic, especially the phoenix roll. Waitress was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We ordered several different rolls and loved all of them, will definitely stop by again when we are in the area.
Extremely nasty lady at check out counter when I order my carry out..... Was a long time customer, but I've had it with her nasty attitude.... Not going back.
We’ve been longtime fans of Yama Sushi Bar, often ordering takeout and already familiar with their fantastic menu and impeccable quality. Last Friday, my wife and I decided to dine in, and we’re so glad we did! We arrived around 8:20 PM on a busy Friday night, yet luck was on our side—we were seated quickly despite the packed house.
To start, we indulged in our all-time favorite appetizer, the Dinosaur Egg—a must-try for anyone visiting! For our main course, we stuck with our usual pick, the Love Boat, a beautifully presented sushi and sashimi platter that never disappoints. The course begins with a fresh salad, followed by comforting miso soup. Then, the star arrives: an elegant wooden boat filled with three pieces each of five different sushi varieties, three pieces each of five sashimi selections, and two delicious rolls of our choice. The display is simply stunning.
One of the standout qualities of Yama is their incredible commitment to freshness. I’ve never once encountered even the faintest fishy smell—everything tastes pristine and well-balanced. Their sushi differs slightly from traditional Japanese or Korean styles, as the wasabi isn’t placed beneath the fish on the shari the rice. However, this actually works in favor of customization since there are generous wasabi portions on the boat, allowing diners to adjust to their own preference.
Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and honestly, it makes us want to come back even more often! Whether you're a sushi aficionado or just looking for a consistently great dining spot, Yama delivers on quality, taste, and presentation
