Alchemy Elements is no longer in business. The eatery at Bel Air Town Center shuttered Wednesday, according to the business owners, who shared a farewell message on Facebook. They did not cite a reason for the closure.Alchemy Elements opened in November 2015 at the shopping center on Baltimore Pike.It was recently named one of the most romantic restaurants in Bel Air by Bel Air Patch readers.Previously, owners sommelier/pastry artist Debi Bell-Matassa and chef Michael Matassa founded Alchemy, a Hampden restaurant that reportedly closed in 2016 so the couple could focus on their new restaurant in Bel Air; and the couple used to own Fusion Grille in Fallston, which they started in 1998 and closed after 9/11 for economic and health reasons, they told I95 Business. Here is what they posted Wednesday night on the Alchemy Elements/Eastern Shore Crab Cakes Facebook page:Alchemy Elements restaurant is grateful to the Harford County community for its tremendous support. We brought something innovative and welcoming to Bel Air. We are truly grateful for all our friends, family, and guests that have supported us these past 5 years. Unfortunately, we had to close the doors today. We have had the best staff in the world and we tried to keep going for as long as we could for them and their uncompromising commitment to quality and hospitality. We are grateful and thankful for their loyalty, creativity, and support.Nothing will ever bring us such joy and heart ache that Elements has brought us.Debi & Michael

The food was ok, I had the red snapper platter and it was a bit dry. It tasted over cook. I really enjoyed the cream of crab soap. The mojito was not the best. The service was great, however it was a busy night so they sat us near the door and it was cold whenever people were walking in. I asked to be moved but I just ended up eating with my jacket on.

Great food and some unusual menu items. We had the Monte Christo. Outstanding!

Food, drinks and service here is top notch. Made reservations for Valentine's dinner and we could not have been happier with the overall experience. If you want a nice place to go on a date put Alchemy on your list. Sea food, steaks, gluten free and even vegan options there is something for everyone.

I could eat their zucchini bread every day and never get tired of it - it's SO. GOOD. I've been here several times and we always order it! Everything I've tried on the menu has been good (the crepes are my favorite!) And the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great brunch spot!

Absolutely amazing place. As a vegetarian of 24 years, this place won me over tonight. The drinks, food, ambiance. We can't wait to come back and have dessert!

We went for restaurant week because we love the opportunity to try new places. Unfortunately, Alchemy Elements didn’t quite stand up to many of the other restaurants we have tried during this special week for Harford County. The two chicken entrees were completely different portion sizes. as one was twice the size of the other, and the short rib entree only came with one short rib. Despite lower menu prices, our entire table would have preferred that the restaurant offered fewer choices in favor of entrees they could actually prepare well for the special event. The cocktails were good, but pricey; and the service was so poor that we were left waiting with empty glasses of what should have been alcohol. We were served our last drinks with check and incredibly tiny desserts to go, despite the fact that the drink orders had been put in before we had finished our meals.

Lost future customers last night. I was very disappointed with our experience at Alchemy elements.

Was misled about their specials when we called. Upon ordering the waitress was extremely nice and checked to see if they would honor the specials we were informed of and they told her yes. The owner then came to our table and said they would not. Very rude and unprofessional.

Great food and great service! We had the quiche of the day, brioche french toast and a flight of scones. Lavazza coffee was rich & smooth. Highly recommend!

Service was excellent. I ordered surf and turf for Christmas Eve and the braised beef was way to fatty. All of the other meals I heard were good. A little pricy with drinks.
