I've been coming to the birds nest as a special treat with my dad every once and a while my whole life, but this time was much different. I'm not sure if management changed, but standards have definitely fallen. I ordered the jalepeño chicken poppers and an old bay chip stick. The poppers were frozen (saw the bag) and low quality for a bbq place, and somehow the chip stick was gritty? And also not very crispy. My dad went to go get me a new one and the employees were very kind and understanding, but somehow the 2nd chip stick was less cooked than the 1st. Used to be a great place to go with cool tables that had games on them and great food, but not anymore. There is definitely potential for a great business but not with standards so low. Could be a candidate for kitchen nightmares if the show still ran.

Stopped in and ordered a carry out on 9/2/205 for Lunch, a couple Pit Turkey Sandwiches w/French fries for my mother in law and I,
We were very excited try and compare from a couple other Pit Turkey Sandwiches which we have eaten from other local locations the past couple weeks
VERY DISAPPOINTED!.
The Turkey was very dry did not have much taste at all. I usually am fare but, as I was waiting at the table, ants or bugs were walking around on it.
Pretty dirty place from a couple years ago when the brewery was there.
Anyway, I will not be returning.

To be fair I haven't eaten here since Alecraft closed. Not sure what changed but the beef had no flavor and was fatty.

Used to be very good that would be cooked to order. Have been coming here for 12 years and I have never had a worse meal from them. Just ordered 4 sandwiches and the pit beef’s which were ordered MED RARE were both served Well Done. Also, chips were served as traditional salt instead of salt and vinegar. Mistakes happen, but after consistently giving this place more chances we once again have been disappointed. I am not sure if it is new management, but something has got to give. Please do not smear the once great Birds Nest if you do not intend to deliver the same quality. A medium rare pit beef’s seems simple enough. Thanks and please change for the good of the customers.

We had them cater our sons graduation. From first meeting with Tom and Sam we knew that they were a great establishment. They were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent everyone kept asking us who cater the party. I definitely recommend them if you need a catering service. Also the delivery person was so great in helping us setting the food up. We are going to have them cater our son’s eighteenth birthday. Thank you so much Birds Nest.

We used to get food from here often. We haven’t been in a while and it was terrible. I don’t know if it is under new management, but the beef was dry and gross. The fries were burnt. And the lemonade was spoiled. We will not be returning.

Ordered a turkey sandwich combo and 2 beef sandwiches. The meat was dry and bland. They also forgot my french fries for the combo. The restaurant also needs a good cleaning!

I really really wanted to love this place. The online menu sounded appetizing and prices looked somewhat fair however when we ordered prices were substantially higher on everything than what their website claimed...$45 for 3 sandwiches and 2 sides. The guys that work there are friendly and cheerful and gave generous portions but the food was horrible. The macaroni and potato salad were amazing but all the meats were so gross. The pit beef was 90% gristle and ended up not being edible. There was nothing pit about the beef, turkey or ham. It was all boiled meats and all had a putrid taste and smell. We all went home with upset stomachs. The manager offered to remake the food but I can't even fathom eating any of the meat again without feeling nauseated. Hoping it was just an off day for them and really wishing they would have given my money back for what we didn't eat.

Birds Nest BBQ in Bel Air, MD blew me away! On 04/28/25 I ordered the pulled pork, mac and cheese, and brisket, and every single bite was pure perfection. The pulled pork was juicy and packed with smoky flavor, the brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect bark, and the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and just the right amount of rich. You can tell they put real care and passion into their food. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. This is hands down some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had — I can’t wait to come back for more!

The brisket and pit beef sandwiches were just ok. The wings were terrible. Coated in baking soda or flour before mixed in your sauce. Won’t be coming back here for wings, pit be, or brisket sandwiches. Sad. They could do much better if quality was their prime concern!
