The crab dip was great! But we ordered the IPA chicken, and it took over 50 minutes. Then we were told that it would take another 10 minutes. At that point we had an event to get to, so we had to leave. (We had over an hour spent at the restaurant)

Unfortunately I am writing this review because I decided to give Dans Taphouse yet another chance. I have been dining at this establishment over many years and have mostly positive reviews, but throughout the last few years food and service have been spotty, at best. The most recent visit to Dans felt like an entirely different restaurant than it used to be. We sat down at a table in the bar area and were greeted with a dirty table and foul odor sourcing from the restroom. The hostess was not friendly and when we said “thank you” for seating us, she just walked away. Ok then. The service was not the best on this occasion as the server was busy chatting it up with other staff at the bar and would disappear for long periods of time without returning. What really made this experience the worst was food (chicken) that was partially undercooked and other pieces seemingly over cooked. One edge of the chicken was literally raw in the middle I am guessing from not laying flat on the grill, while the other (most) was over cooked and tough / chewy as leather. The fries were salt - logged and tasted as though they were laying around a warmer for hours. To top it off, the piece of lettuce on my sandwich was limp as though it was exposed to heat and wilted. The ONLY saving grace was the beer (one I had to get on my own because the server was MIA). For a $75 bill for a poor quality and prepared sandwich and a few beers, I will never go back to this place again. Dans really went down hill and thankfully we didn’t get sick from the food.

I was staying at the Inn across the street and wanted to give them a try. I found the service to be indifferent. It was not very busy and it took forever for someone to take my order, then forever for my drink to come, then forever for dinner. I ordered the scallops. They were cooked well, perfect texture and good flavor, but there were just four of them. Sides and salads were extra. I found it overpriced for what I got and I left still hungry.

we were one of 3 groups waiting for the restaurant to open at 12 noon. The hostess was very kind and inviting as she put up the OPEN flags and told us to come in. Our server was Taylor who took our drink orders after we sat down. The variety of drafts for flights was excellent. we were ready to order food when Taylor told us the specials and threw us off! We had the calamari, special app of mussels Chesapeake. Both were excellent. The cream of crab on the mussels was so good we asked for more bread to dip in it. Very good. Special sandwich of chicken Chesapeake , BLT, Buffalo chicken salad (Amazing blue cheese dressing) and another special Buffalo Cauliflower tacos. We enjoyed everything and had excellent service. Thank you!

This location is a nice place to have a cup of coffee or cocktail. Quaint outdoor seating available but is on the corner of a street with a stop light. The food is good. I have been here a few times over the past 5 years and have enjoyed everything I have been served. Beer and mixed drinks are on the menu, and there is a nice variety of both. There are beautiful flower boxes around the seating outside, and it is always nice to see when dining or even just passing by. Parking is adequate in the back. Some parking is available on the street side of this site and opposite also. This place gets busy on the weekend nights and may provide a nice ambiance, although it was not evident to me during my visit at lunchtime. This may be due to my avoidance of crowds and peak times. I like to dine during slow times if possible to get a true picture of the service provided. I will usually visit again during peak times to find out how they handle the masses. I see people dining outside, and they seem to be enjoying themselves. Give this place a try if you are in nearby Shepherdstown or touring the battlefield.

What a lovely restaurant and bar. Food is amazing and the staff is totally awesome. Highly recommend if you're ever through this way. The beer menu is beyond anything I'd expect from such a small town. Just as good as a brewery!

We went for lunch and were seated in the bar area, which was cozy. The hostess was more than accommodating as we spent time catching up instead of looking at the menu, which has a lot to choose from. Our sandwiches were delicious and fresh, and we had a good selection of sides. The beer list is long and we appreciated the descriptions that helped us choose. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful service and food. Atmosphere is lovely, too. We have been coming here for years and have always enjoyed good service, food, and a fantastic beer selection. Staff is always attentive, even when they are very busy! Food is consistently good: there is a very reasonably priced sandwich menu, and a more upscale entree menu as well. The scallops are particularly good, as are the crab cakes. The rotating selection of craft beer is fun: we’ve had some amazing beers here. The restaurant has been lovingly renovated; I love the pressed copper ceiling. There’s some nice wrought iron work, too. You may need a reservation to avoid a wait on the weekends. We we here on a Friday night, and it was a full house.

One order of a Rachel came with a meat other than turkey. It was so tough it couldn't be chewed. Wasn't sure what kind of meat it was. Same with a Ruben. It wasn't pastrami or corned beef. Couldn't tell what it was. A ham & cheese panini was delicious. Crab nachos were delicious, but probably won't go back.

The food was delicious and the staff was great! My husband was apprehensive in dining here as he is a black man and I am a white woman and we have received strange reactions/looks in many small towns. The manager we met at this establishment was very friendly and accommodating. He made us feel right at home! We will be returning and telling all our friends!

It seems they hate conservatives and differing opinions, and are not afraid to let you know it. Very rude owners and staff.

Waited 45mins for a sandwich Togo and then when it came out with everything on it that I asked to put on the side. When I showed them how they got it wrong the staff stated it's the same thing being separated or on the sandwich I slammed the bag down told them to keep it. Don't go there , go and support some others businesses.

Didn't feel welcome as soon as we walked in, maybe it was because we were two middle aged white men in suits. Would give less if possible.

The staff are rude and think they can bully you, I noticed that protestors were outside as well due to an on going lawsuit as two older white guys were banned for being old and white, seems the owners don’t like that class of people, the manager of the bar is useless and causes more problems then he fixes

Great food, great atmosphere, lovely staff. I forgot to take a “before” picture of my meal but the pulled pork sandwich was perfect. Lots of good stuff on the menu, I’ll definitely be back for more.
