Naz's Halal Food - Burtonsville

Update Dec 2024: 2/5. This location has gone very downhill since new management. The gentleman at the cash register has an extreme attitude and will literally throw things at your bag when you ask for them.. It's almost like ordering is an inconvenience and they don't want your business. Sad to say but this location isn't what it was before.

Went to Naz's Halal today for their grand opening. Free lunch from 12-2 and the line was ridiculously long! The staff got off to a rough start, especially with enforcing social distancing but they pulled it off-- hot fresh food that beats Halal Guys!

Update 8/28:
Naz's halal has been open for over a week now and they've got really steady business.Walk in, place your order, and you'll have a fresh hot platter of meat, rice, and salad in less than 5 minutes. I've tried the chicken and lamb -- both are decent. The chicken is super flavorful, especially compared to the likes of Halal Guys. However, I almost always have a couple pieces of cartilage in my chicken, enough to ruin the meal for me. The rice is good, but wish it had more aromatic flavors as any good rice base should. The lettuce is usually crisp and fresh. The sauces that go with the platters are great too. The green sauce packs in the flavor, the red sauce is hot but not overbearing, and the white sauce is surprisingly light (unlike Halal Guys' heavy, calorie-packed version).

COVID-19: The restaurant does an abysmal job with COVID precautions. On opening day MoCo investigators were writing up warnings due to the lack of social distancing enforcement and the fact that the restaurant owner's family was walking in and out of the restaurant without masks. A week later and the restaurant has 6ft distancing stickers on the ground but they don't enforce it and tables are not 6ft apart. Some employees in the kitchen can be seen not properly wearing masks or gloves.

The value proposition is there, with platters running around 8 bucks. Naz's Halal is a great alternative to Halal Guys but the restaurant has some work to do before it's my go-to.

I go for a quick bite at this place once a week. I love the fact that it’s 5 minutes away from my house. I can order as much combo with rice as I can 🤩

Chicken has bad smell. Ordered 2 Subs and I had to throw other one away . Chicken has a smell like it was cooked 5 days ago. However Kofta Kabob were better than Chicken. Guys you really need to fix this chicken stinky smell.

Sept 2024
We stopped by here to get some dinner. The place is very open and bright, with 5 four people tables. The staff were polite and quick, but largely apathetic. They didn't seem busy in house, but there were a lot of people coming in to pick up online orders. Most of them were ready, but I did see one or two people have to wait for their order to be done. Even when you order in store, they automatically bag up your order to go (in plastic bags).

They offer an interesting collection of ice cream cups and popsicles. They offer varieties you don't usually see in a restaurant. I saw mango, coconut, and pistachio. Not sure how they taste though.

The gyros were definitely the main attraction. They were very generous with the meat, and it was a good size for the price. We also got the wings, but they weren't very good. The gyros were much tastier.

They have 2 single men/women bathrooms, very spacious, clean, and dry.

Overall, we may come again if given the option and in the area, but it's not a big deal to us.

Parking: This place is part of a bigger shopping center with a free parking lot. It wasn't too busy, and it was easy to find parking close by our chosen store.

This is one of the worst experiences I've have ever had at a fast food restaurant.
For the following reasons:
1.It took 4 minutes of standing at the counter before someone eventually noticed me and took my order.
2. The guy taking my order seemed very frazzled and didn't understand what fixings I wanted on my spicy chicken sandwich. So much so that he told another gentleman to take my order.
3. The next gentleman who took my order literally lied and told me that it will be 10 minutes to complete my order.
4. After waiting 15 minutes I was told that my double burger and spicy chicken were done. They were waiting on fries. Meanwhile I noticed that 2 people who ordered after me and had ordered fries had received their food. They were not mobile orders I heard them order their food.
5. My fries were finally ready afer a total of 27 minutes. My sandwiches had been sitting for 10 minutes waiting for fries.
6. The double burgers was OK. But it was cold. The spicy chicken sandwich was a preshapped round patty. The kind you buy from Tysons.
They appeared not to have a manager as the crew argued the entire time I was there.
I wouldn't recommend to my enemy. Worst $20 and 30 minutes I wasted in a long time.
