This restaurant doesn’t even deserve the one star I’m giving it.
Against my better judgment—and despite reading the reviews—my husband and I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely underwhelming.

The fish was fried too soft for my liking, so I politely asked if it could be refried to make it a bit crispier. The young woman at the counter with dreads was kind and said yes, but the cook completely ignored my request. He wandered around the store and didn’t return to the kitchen until I picked the fish up off the counter myself.

The sides were just as disappointing. The collard greens, yams, and green beans were served lukewarm, which is surprising since they were supposedly in a warmer. The yams, in particular, were the worst—tasting like they’d only been boiled in water and vanilla extract. They lacked essential ingredients like butter and sugar, and the flavors didn’t blend at all. Each component stood out in the worst way.

I genuinely try to support businesses in the Black community, but this was a complete waste of $60—including the tip. We ended up throwing the food in the trash.

Save your time, money, and appetite—avoid this establishment at all costs.

Haven’t been in a while. Never again, food is tasteless, FF was old and cold, C-greens were not done. Not again.

At the Camp Springs shop the whiting was good but the coleslaw was horrible. Also, they were out of mac & cheese by 12:30 p.m.

Torch!! A good local eatery my fish always fresh and hot. I normally get a whiting dinner or sandwich. Won’t feel like you’ve wasted your hard earned money.

This sure it's the the Horace & dickies from back in the day. Average at best. The fish is long and thin., hardly no meat. Way over priced. Coleslaw was warm. Service was just OK. No forks in the bag, 2 tart sauces with a small, and I do mean small squeeze of starter sauce. nothing special at all. No pride in the service at all. I should have went to Lucas seafood..

This fish was A1... the sides wasn't were mid to bad. It was only one person cooking so the service was but we were patient. I will go again but only for the fish.

I love their Bone Fish ( Croakers), but they are starting to lose interest ..... in cooking. I went there yesterday, April 20, 2025. ( Allentown Road ) I ordered 2 bone fish, paid for it, and then I was told they have no more bone fish that it was frozen. I said that's a first. So, I told him I guess I need a refund. I only eat bone fish. It was disappointing, to say the least. It was 3 pm in the afternoon. I didn't understand why he couldn't thaw some out fish. 3 other customers arrived when he told the cashier we were out of bone fish. The customers said no bone fish, what do you have? Was it just laziness? It doesn't take long to thaw out fish. The fries are always undercooked cooked. I don't like eating raw potatoes! Very disappointing

Horace & Dickies is good spot for the occasional fish sandwich. 🍔😋👍 While the quality is not as good as when they were on H Street. 🙁🤔 It is still worth a visit. 💯✅

I wish I could give them no stars! I’ve been a loyal customer for decades. Imagine my surprise when I got my piece of croaker that had not been descaled. As soon as I open the box, I called the restaurant and the young lady told me that’s how the fish comes now. I have NEVER been served fish with scales on it. I asked her to let new management know they needed to research how to cook fish and politely let her know they had lost a customer. If that’s how it comes now when I’m spending $20, I don’t need to go back.
