I really struggled with having to write this review because I really do like Horace & Dickies (Allentown Rd), but lately the food has been really really bad. For example, the potato's in the potato salad is sometimes raw and under cooked or overcooked and mushy with no flavor. Last time I was there I got the green beans, and I couldn't figure out what was going on with them, but they were really dark and had a weird texture and flavor, maybe they were old. I have gotten the collard greens a few times and they taste like someone dumped a whole can of old bay In them and on other occasions they had no flavor at all. I usually get the whiting or the catfish and lately the catfish has been terribly salty, so salty that it gave me a headache. The mac & cheese is hit or miss. These are typically the items that I get, so I can't speak to the other food. I really hope that they can fix whatever it is that's going on with the food because they are truly a staple in the community and I want to continue to patronize them and see them do well, but for now I can't!

Well! Went there yesterday, Friday (Yes - Good Friday) March 29th and it was terrible with long lines and the cashier wasn't the most friendliness person on staff. There were ants on the counter, and I said to her "there's an ant" - her response was NOT Nice, and it was "it's Spring please it just an ant, they'll clean it in a minute. I should have walked out like the person behind me that heard that terrible response! I along with many others waited 45 minutes to one hour and I came out smelling like fish. The 4 to 5 guys were cooking, and trying to keep up with the tickets, the guy that was prepping the food was in his own world listening to loud inappropriate music that I guess helping him not to be court up in the madness around him, because the guys started mixing up tickets and calling random numbers out. The staff needs a training day and learn that it's great to serve the community with kindness and efficient service in a clean environment which they need an overhaul. Clearly, I will not be visiting them again.What I did notice upon speaking with others that many people were complaining but still waiting like me on the food. I will not complain and be a party of this unprofessional, unclean place. They need a deep cleaning in the entire area because it's dirty! Just take a good look especially where they have the cakes and the floor. EVERYTHING!!!!Parking: horrible!

Let me start off with the positive. The cashier is/was amazing. She cared about the customers that were waiting for hours. The cooks were ghetto and unprofessional. They were not taking orders as they come, one of the cooks said they were getting the big orders out first no matter when you came in. This place was pretty packed because of Good Friday. One lady brought her fish back because they cooked the fish frozen. We have to care a little more or get out of our communities.

This is a $20 meal. No joke.2 stars is being generous.8 piece shrimp with two sides. OVER PRICED.The macaroni and cheese tasted a lil better than Kraft brand. I realized that ain't saying much, but it's the truth. Couldn't taste any cheese. That right there almost made take a covid test.The fries were soggy and had nothing to them. No salt. Just basic boring krinkle cut frozen fries. I had to add my own old bay seasoning, pathetic.I was miss ing one shrimp, but the 7 shrimps were okay. BUT just okay, this was not worth the price of admission.The atmosphere was lacking , walls could use paint. The upholstery was either torn or cracked. but on the bright side service was decent, my order was promised in 10min. Got it in 9.Highly disappointed, considering I was recommended to this place by more than one person. Just go somewheres else, trust me.

Received our order and was less than please. Catfish was delicious but the potatoes were not cooked in the potato salad and the Mac and cheese was soooo light skinned that the cheese must have been an option. I will pass on this establishment but wish them and the dedicated clientele all the best.

I enjoyed my visit to Horace and Dickies last Friday. We were at the CIAA Tournament in Baltimore so we decided to drive down for some good fish. I ordered the whiting dinner, greens and potato salad. The fish was great, the greens had lots of flavor and the potato salad was good, but a little dry. Overall, it was worth the drive.

I must say i visited your place of business today 02/25/24. i order 2-6piece plates, and a side of fries and potatoes salad. that food was right on point, fresh, hot!!!!!. your cashier gave us great customer service (older guy). the food was outstanding. my husband and i have followed you from dc. and everytime your food has been amazing. it's so good, seasoned well, and fresh. u keep during what your during. and believe me you will be around. i don't mind spending the money for great fish, and you have given us just that..... great is a understatement.... only place too go for some great fried fish.

Why does the restaurant state it’s open unit 8:30pm but the door is locked at 6:30pm. I witnessed other guest inside. Terrible. Update the website. People were trying to get in while it was raining.
