Stopped into 818 Market on a Sat morning to see what they had to offer and was amazed at the amount of items they carry. Not only do they stock a vast selection of wine and beer, they also have really good gourmet stuff like cheeses and pastries. The donuts we tried were amazing and we were finally able to find the bottle of bubbly we've been looking for that nobody else stocks. Really great market, beautiful building, super helpful staff and a dedicated parking lot in the back! Definitely going back for more.
They created what was supposed to be a community grocery story. I was looking forward to having nearby. The building is gorgeous. I shopped there a few times. It was very pricy but it did have some nice features such has great pastry and coffee. Many grocery items were unknown brands, over priced and geared for organic diets. I went there yesterday, hoping to just buy some some hamburger buns. It is now essentially a liquor store with cheese and a few other snack items. They still have the pastry and coffee. I drove to Giant to get my hamburger buns. ☹ Even 7-11 didn't have any.
This store is very attractive in that it looks new and very clean. The new cashier at the front seems like a really nice person l however I don't think they are the best fit for providing great customer service. They are often on their phone and can be short and mono toned. My apple maps shows that this location is closed however, it is opened so hopefully they change their information quickly as to not lose more potential customers. I plan to make this place a part of my morning routine as I love their vanilla chai! They have a good range of whole milk alternatives.
Love 818 Market place! The new pricing on liquor and wine is affordable and better than most places around! Not to mention it being on my commute, this makes for a quick and convenient stop for snacks and great-priced quality drinks!
I REALLY want to love this place. GREAT cheese selection (best in maryland) and friendly woman that works the cheese bar.But this place gives me legit vertigo. The layout is TOO open. And the staff are always staring at you like you're gonna steal something. Maybe it's because the staff only see like, 5 customers per day due to the super secret parking! And there's a restaurant upstairs but that ALSO is too dark and the stairs too wide and weird. Yay more vertigo!
I really wanted to love this place- went in with a friend 12/31 for lunch. Menu extensive and space is attractive and clean. Ordered steamed mussels - they were rancid and smelled like a sewer. Friend ordered cheesesteak-received different beef sandwich which she tried and was cold- spinach salad with steak that I ordered was smothered in dressing and steak was all fat and gristle - so disappointed
Wow; the bakery selection is amazing. I really wish we took photos, but we ate everything so far. We will definitely be back. The raspberry peanut butter pop tart was my favorite!!! Also, I am a huge fan of Pop Daddy pretzels so I was so excited to see them on the shelf!!
The employees and manager were really friendly. I like the look and feel of the place, very open and spacious and clean. I went there for brunch with my daughter. The food was just eh. She got pancakes and potatoes, topped with strawberries. I expected the strawberries to be fresh, but they looked frozen. The potatoes were a little too well done and dry. I got chorizo and egg tacos. The avocado crema that they put on top was scrumptious! The tortillas were super dry, though. Tasted like they weren't fresh. Everything, overall, tasted very dry. :/ I'll go back and give it another try.
The kitchen was closed when we arrived for our reservation and the staff said they had canceled their contract with open table. This was the day after Christmas and I was looking forward to having a meal out. Fortunately, we were able to get a table at Catonsville Gourmet across the street. I suggest you go there first and skip 818 altogether.
Great local market in city center of Catonsville. Everyone is pretty friendly and helpful. You can build your own charcuterie board. 818 is one of the only markets in the Baltimore area that allows you to purchase your groceries and spirits in the same building, that’s a plus ✅

We bought items from the bakery and the cinnamon bun I bought was old and crusty. The man working there acted like he thought we were going to steal something. The things they were selling on shelves you can get cheaper in other grocery stores. If they want to survive as a business, they should offer local product from farms in the area. I'm in marketing for 15 years and that's just my opinion. Also the butcher area didn't have much meat on display. On the upside, It's a really nice establishment with a restaurant upstairs.
The classiest establishment in Catonsville for drinks and delicacies! We got a caramel torte that I surprisingly loved--I ate more than Galen, which is crazy! We got drinks at the bar upstairs and sat in the quiet glass-enclosed area where you can look out on the street. Really great slinky '70s funk bar music. The perfect place to get tipsy and laugh with someone.
Had brunch. Omelets were big and delicious. They come with potatoes but no bread. Also odd that a restaurant does not have desserts/pastries at brunch. But otherwise a very nice brunch.
Only problem was the noise coming from the party in the rear room. Ravens were playing so there was a fair amount of fan enthusiasm in the entire place. Bakery, cheese shop, and small shopping area downstairs a real find.
Ordered sandwiches bottom line the subs were very skimpily made. Two slim slices of meat one slice of cheese. 818 market should have their staff trained in making a proper sub.
