I enjoyed my grilled cheese sandwich, applesauce, and hot chocolate. I also purchased sourdough bread, peppers, peanut butter, and different pastries. Thank you.

Owners are all about making money.
11 months ago I purchased a gift card for Stone Age kitchen classes. They fill up fast so it’s near impossible to get in. Long story short, 11 months later and there is no availability left and they recently told me that the gift certificate expires at the end of the year.
So I contacted the owner directly to ask for help. She said that the classes were booked through the year and that my certificate would expire. There is nothing she can do and would not honor the certificate past December 31. I asked to be in one of the next classes, so give me a limited time offer and she said no. All of the classes are done for the year.
Not fair at all. The certificate does not have an expiration date on it nor did they ever tell me I had one year to use it. So they literally are taking my $150 with nothing in return.
They only care about money and hide behind Goodwill

Usually great but for 80 dollars, cold omelette, 2 coffees and 4 pastries..I could have went to a fancy brunch in annapolis for that price
We visited Modern Stone Age Kitchen during our stay at Brampton 1860. Everything is made from scratch using ancestral techniques like fermentation and quality ingredients like organic flour. The staff here is friendly and helpful.
The hand-rolled sourdough pretzels are absolutely delicious. Get there early because they sell out fast! We also loved browsing their selection of fresh-baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods like fermented veggies and house-made liverwurst.
Seating fills up quickly inside, but the courtyard is a lovely spot when the weather's nice.

The quality of the food was excellent. The portions relative to price are what would be expected given that this is not a chain but a specialty restaurant. Being able to see the kitchen at work was a great experience. The hash browns are cubed, not shredded and have a wonderful crisp texture. The eggs were very tasty but less fluffy than I am used to. Overall everything was delicious.

So I was in town with my wife, who was visiting a client on business. Lacking knowlege of the area, we were searching for decent place to grab lunch. Stumbling upon MSA was a home run. Cool atmosphere, clean environ, FRESH food. Enjoyed an exceĺlent pressed turkey sandwich. The crispy pressed sourdough in the sandwich was awesome. Def have a go to in Chestertown now.

Walk inside Modern Stone Age Kitchen, you you'll feel like family. Each staff member remembers customers and creates a space to be seen. It's powerful to watch. On top of that, the entire restaurant is missional. Started by a husband-wife team (both former educators), they use ancestral food traditions to make quality, whole, nutritious food. Born out of the pandemic, Modern Stone Age Kitchen is one of the few places in Chestertown open Mondays. After dining there, here's my experience.
1) Food: Walk inside the main storefront and it feels like a bakery with sourdough bread baking and fresh pastries behind a glass display. For a snack, order the fig and cheese croissant. For lunch, I ordered the seasonal kimchi grilled cheese sandwich with a side of butternut squash soup. Both were full of flavor. In fact, they make their own cheese in house too. (They make all the ingredients except for Old Bay and chocolate.)
2) Drinks: They have a special blend of coffee with Rise Up, kombucha, tea, and other options. The lavender lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet.
3) Space: There's indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a little bed and breakfast for those in their network on the campus.
4) Story: The owners are very kind people with many talents. They are usually there and more than willing to chat. Bill, the husband, was on a Nat Geo show and authored a helpful book. For him and his wife Christina, the entire business is missional, helping people eat well and nutritiously. They often travel the world taking back learnings to their restaurant.

Expensive , manager said they use top quality meats ours was roast beef however hard finding meat on sandwiches, he said it is portioned out on sandwiches for $16 each that is why sandwiches are so expensive
One tomato, a little lettuce, smear of horseradish, 3 small pieces of onion, thin slices of bread, we were still understandably hungry.
very disappointed in his defense of experience after I emailed my concerns about pricing although staff was very helpful, pastries looked yummy along with place was packed with locals. Bill was $37 including our top & tax

Thank you MSAK for serving delicious, nutrient dense foods with excellent customer service. We can’t get food this quality unless we make it ourselves at home so we travelled from TX to visit MSAK and it was worth every minute!
I wish there was a MSAK on every corner! No refined sugars and no seed oils! Weston Price principles are used here, so the food is scratch-made and prepared in the best way for our bodies. Sourdough bread & pastries, local dairy & meats, and the education that the Schindler family provides to the community makes this a place you cannot skip!
