For over over 25 years I ate here at least twice a month. I was there last night. The food is improved. The service is still excellent in downtown Bethesda. The atmosphere remains kind of dark. It would highly improve this place if someone updated and brightened the interior. Bathrooms are tight and might be hard for wheelchairs. *A great outdoor patio.Parking: Valet parks cars beneath the building.

This place is a gem! We've driven by so often and never stopped, but now live in the neighborhood and have been multiple times.Lovely old-world atmosphere. Excellent service. And the food is wonderful. We've had pizza, pasta, seafood and beef and all have been delicious. We've taken multiple sets of friends and they've all loved the food, too. Very happy to have found a new favorite!

Music was fabulous - S K JAZZ. The food is just ok and the atmosphere bizarrely right out of Knights of the Roundtable. We were in the area and thought we’d give the place a try. Glad we did - our group will definitely be back whenever that jazz group is playing!

This one was my first time there, and my experience wasn't pleasant at all. We went with a few friends for a birthday celebration. The place itself was very nice, I felt comfortable in the beginning, music was good until you needed the service. The waitress came 20 minutes after we arrived, I ordered 1 antipasti and 2 main dishes for me and my husband. Forget about drinks, that was another story. After an hour, the waitress returned with one dish, and it was for one of the guests who ordered 15 minutes before us, and he said that the plate was cold. He was hungry and tired, so he ate it.After probably 20 minutes more, she came back with one of our dishes and not a word for the rest. For obvious reasons, we canceled the rest of the order, and instead of apologizing or looking more understanding, she turned back with attitude. To pay the bill, I had to go and find the lady, speak with the manager, and 30 minutes later, I paid my bill. The whole thing was outrageous.I had never experienced something like this, and my feelings were that they both couldn't care less.I can understand about being short in labor but that it is not how to treat customers.

Just happened upon this place while staying around the corner. The brussel sprouts appetizer was fantastic. My chicken dish was good, but could have used a touch more flavor. My coworker lives her shrimp dish.

Delicious, quick and filling. Not the absolute best but definitely one of my favorites. Been there for a long time and that’s for a reason.

The people that work here are dumber than dumber than dumber than dumber than dumber than dumber than dumb. it's incredibly humiliating to watch these servers try to interact with one another and - most pointedly - the customers they are at least attempting to serve. they obviously never learned and/or had the cognitive ability to "process" the tact/and or customer relations skillset that frankly any person living in this area has happily mastered by adolescence, at the very least. Could not be more uneducated, uncultured, or unintelligent if these guys tried . Yikes.

Lovely place for live music. Get the prosciutto rolls, eggplant parm, and spumoni ice cream.

Food is a *bit* basic, and the wine list is pretty limited. Music on Saturday night is nice, though they add an entertainment charge to the check for it. Unfortunately, happy hour offers are limited to the bar so you can't watch the band and do happy hour (though you can probably still somewhat hear them).

It is always a pleasure eating at Alfio's. My only regret is that in spite of the fact that I walked past it for many years during my weekday walks to and from the subway, I didn't "discover" it until shortly before I moved away from the area, clear across the country.

The prices are not consistent. I was charged $18 for a bowl of plain pasta. No sauce. Nothing. I got charged the amount it would cost with meat sauce. There is a waiter there who is extremely dishonest and charges more than he should at every opportunity. On the other hand there is a great bar tender who actually knows right from wrong and is an honest man. I don’t recommend the food. I don’t recommend this place at all. Go to Lia’s or Maggiano’s if you want actual good Italian food. I will never ever walk into Alfios again. Ever
