It was our first time visiting DC, and our friends highly recommended Elena James, and we were absolutely in awe! They suggested a few dishes from the new autumn menu, and everything was incredible. The manchego + pear salad was a standout; it was our first time trying something like that, and we loved it!
Being from Europe, we also really appreciated the cocktail and wine selection - some of the ingredients and flavors felt so familiar and comforting, almost like a little taste of home. The atmosphere, food, and service all made for such a memorable evening. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in DC!

Went to Elena James DC last night to try their new autumn menu, and wow, it’s fantastic. We’re regulars at their sister spots Opal and Nina May, and this one keeps the bar high! The Black Garlic Marinated Pork Chop was a standout — tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired with the apple-fennel slaw, creamy polenta, and marsala jus. The whole team was so warm and attentive, as always. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We went there for lunch — the portions/ drinks were small, the service was super slow, and the food was just average, maybe a bit below.

I had a an amazing dinner here last night. The restaurant is beautiful with a large bar and lots of booth seating. They start you off with a little gift from the kitchen that was crispy pita with an eggplant spread. It was light and very tasty. My husband and I split the heirloom tomato salad that comes with mozzarella and a nice amount of arugula salad on top. It was a large portion and easy for us to share. We each got a pasta. I got the fettuccini with clams that was very good and my husband got the corn ravioli. It had mushrooms and corn and the pasta was perfectly cooked. To finish we decided to have desert and we shared the bread pudding. It was rich with chocolate and caramel sauce served with vanilla ice cream. It was our first time here and we will be coming back for sure

This was my first time trying Elena James. I had seen mixed reviews but our experience was really great. I was told they used to have a cafe next door but are turning that into a new concept. We are defiantly going to try that because the breakfast we had today was great and reasonably priced. We ordered at the bar and got their specialty pistachio latte and an almond croissant. Both were very good. We also tried the breakfast sandwich which came with hot sauce and a hash brown as well as scrambled eggs and all served on an English muffin. It was fast delicious and for 20$ you can't beat it. We will defiantly be back to try their dinner menu. A great option in the area
