Great place for a quick bite to eat. The employees are fast to remake any mistakes through miscommunications. This one manager named Nate is incredible. Everytime I order during a rush he is quick to make my sandwich to PERFECTION. He seems super reserved yet takes everything very seriously. One time I forgot to add a some bacon to my sandwich and before the employees at the next station could tell Nate to send down some bacon he already sent it through the oven. Now mind you this is in a large rush of people the line was nearly to the door and he not only was able to keep the line going but fix my own mistake in record time so I didn't have to wait. I was very impressed I wanted to talk with him to give him a tip but he refused it. Actually INSANITY. His attitude compared to everyone else is so drastically different. I recommend anyone who wants to eat here to have Nate make your food he is the best!

The food met expectations. However, the service, accuracy of order, and prefessionalism and attitudes of the staff was sub-par.I approached the counter with no one in front of me, and the woman behind the counter was preparing the bread for another order. She looked up at me 4 times under her eyebrows and sighed. Then, she complained to another co-worker about her running nose. I patiently waited. She finally asked for my order by saying, "next in line," without making eye contact. I placed my order, and then she said, "what bread," not being a Potbelly frequenter. I was unfamiliar with the options and asked her where I could find the bread options. She heavy-signed and ignored me. I repeated my question and she pointed with exaggerated annoyance. I submitted my bread preference. She didn't acknowledge me. I then placed my soup order. She didn't acknowledge me but then yelled my order to a coworker. I advanced in the line.Another in my party placed her order and was met with the same cold shoulder. She did not receive what she ordered. My wife pre-ordered for her and our 3 year old before we walked to the restaurant so it would be ready when we arrived to keep our toddler engaged. They kept the order behind the counter instead of placing it in the pick-up cubbies because many past orders had been stolen. However, my wife paced back and forth checking the cubbies which were in direct line of sight with the counter and employees. No one else was in the restaurant and the staff didn't notice until she asked for the status of her order. We all received our food before her and our toddler. She was telling me what happened at the table when another employee yelled out from behind the counter, his explanation of why the pick up order was not in the cubby.I then made a trip to the restroom. I entered the stall and sat down. 10 seconds after sitting down the automatic lights went out. I waved my arms around but the stall doors block the light sensor. I used the toilet in the pitch black until I was able to open the stall door, at which point, the lights came back on. If a disabled person in a wheel chair uses that stall I am sure they will have challenges. This is unsafe. The experience was off putting. We will not be returning unless we are starving and nothing else is open.

Garbage employees, lazy as f%#k close constantly at LEAST 30 minutes early. I finally managed to get inside for a sandwich during the day once but couldn't go through with an order because the kitchen and condiments station looked horrifying dirty.

I ordered 2 milkshakes today, one to take to my mom in the hospital before I leave town, and one for my sister who was giving me a ride to the train. Both exploded a few minutes later - the styrofoam cups both cracked open at the bottom, perhaps from the cold temp or pressure? So now I have sticky milkshake all over my hands and bags, and nothing to take to my mom. Please use better cups and please refund me... the woman who made them for me was nice but what a waste of time and disappointment

I had the worst potbelly sandwich I’ve ever had at this location. Proportion of blue cheese to meat was a complete mess and the sandwich was soggy / falling apart. Avoid this potbelly!

Hi! I happen to like Potbelly as a chain, simply for their Wreck sandwich. (Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham, & Salami.) You can request how much or little of a topping you'd like, as you can request average, light, or extra. The toppings have always been fresh. You can order a sandwich for any appetite; the bread never feels stale (Subway breads were always hit and miss for me. It was not uncommon to get dried out or stale bread.) The cookies are delicious. Basically, they make hearty food that tastes good. I like the option of getting a whole Kosher Dill pickle. Potbelly has much fresher, better quality food than Subway, with combinations I prefer. This Friendship Heights location has (except for 1 time, with a new teen staff that I don't think lasted) always been accomodating and generous. I think everywhere is struggling economically, and I hope Potbelly stays operating. The time they got the order wrong, they apologized and made me a new sandwich. The manager is really decent. This past year, I think they've had turnover and new staff. But overall, they have been really generous, professional, and welcoming. Also, if you use the app, there are many "perks" and it is not hard to earn a free sandwich. Downsides? The beverages are pricey for soda; and you may wish to double-check your order before exiting. That way, if something is not accurate, they can remake it right there. (I'm writing this as a few people said their order was wrong. Probably a new person.) They only ever messed up once for me (new person), and I've ordered a fair share there since they opened. I for one am happy they are here!

Great service, good sandwiches. Parking may be difficult because it's Chevy Chase so it's not the best location to meet people unless you're close by and don't mind walking. They're super fast though

I personally got the large Italian and the oreo milkshake. I felt that the oreo milkshake had too much oreo which gave it a sand texture. The sandwich was decent but nothing special. An okay sandwich for an okay price.

Overpriced and consistently late preparing online and to go orders

Aly Nada

They are consistently late with online orders, this latest one being 40 minutes late. I suspect they don't start online orders till you are in-store which completely defeats the purpose. Also, once had them call me and cancel an order because they were out of an ingredient, but I never got refunded even after calling 3 times. Horrible horrible service.

Average. Nothing special. Comparable to Subway. But I prefer Subway just because they have more condiment options.

Wonderful staff.. BUT, prices have increased 3 times since this location opened. A skinny sandwich and drink is now damn near $10. Not but last week it was closer to $8. Unacceptable.

This place has consistently given awful service. They’ve lost my order in the middle of making it, taken 10+ minutes to complete an order while I’m the only person in the store (ignoring my food in favor of doing side work) and I once had an employee from the store take my phone number from a mobile order to ask me out. Completely inappropriate. In comparison to other locations, this potbelly also serves the worst quality food. Every time I go hoping for a quick and decent meal I end up leaving furiously.
