This is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in the area - absolutely delicious and creative food and exceptional service.
My family and I love Sushiko, and we go there fairly regularly both for lunch and dinner and have been doing so for the last 10-15 years. The food is outstanding. Staff is great, and the owner is always there, remembers my name for some incomprehensible reason and is always very friendly. They just added bento boxes for lunch. They are on a separate menu you should ask for. Our favorites are the sushi bento (which is different than the larger sushi and sashimi bento), chicken teriyaki and tempura. Each comes with a salad, miso glazed Brussels sprouts, a mini spring roll and gyoza and a maki (I think). If you love shrimp and not so much the vegetables, just get the ebi tempura and enhance with a roll. The omakase sashimi is very pretty and well-made, but the sushiko chirashi is just as good and less expensive. You can always enhance your experience with a piece or two of nigiri. I love their artic char. I will sometimes just get some nigiri, a miso and eat what my family doesn't. I am not svelt. I have not tried their uni, which may be the "test" for how "good" a restaurant is. If it tastes like you're eating overcooked chicken liver as opposed to foie gras, you're probably at a problematic restaurant. I usually don't risk it ever, but it is a treat if you find yourself at a very expensive restaurant. Or in Japan. If you want a Nobu or Masa, or even an American-level-Michelin-recognized restaurant, this is not the restaurant for you. If you want really good Japanese food to enjoy with your family and not worry about whether you are holding the fish knife in the proper hand, Sushiko is a great choice. If you want Nobu, go to Nobu. It's at M and 25th. But if you want Nobu, you're not reading OpenTable. So just go to Sushiko. And bring a loved one.
Honestly never been and wasn't sure what to expect, 12 out of 10. So delicious and so fresh, will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town!
Excellent experience . Optimal food and service. I am very fond of Sushiko because the food and service is excellent.
Excellent sushi and other Japanese food. Great service and some inventive twists food wise.
I finally had the chance to experience Sushiko's omakase, and I only wish I had gone sooner because it was absolutely incredible. Our sushi chef was wonderful and incredibly accommodating; it was clear he genuinely wanted our food to be perfect and our experience to be positive. Although the omakase is priced at $140 per person and was supposed to be a fourteen-course meal, we received more than fourteen courses. That extra surprise made the price feel easy to justify.
A tip for those planning on coming for the omakase who want to save a little on drinks is to arrive slightly early and grab beverages in the bar area, as the omakase tasting takes place during their happy hour (which runs from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM). You do have to close your tab at the bar and move to the sushi counter, but we were able to bring our drinks over without any problem.

Excellent value for the size and quantity of the slices of fish with the Sushi/Shashimi/Nigiri. Service was attentive and made the meal pleasant.
Warm greeting, friendly efficient service. And the food was outstanding. Sushi was amazing!
The food was delicious, well prepared and so fresh. I had several pieces of nigiri and a roll and was really pleased with all. My guest had the hamachi cheek which was outstanding and such a treat to see on the menu. Although it was clear the servers were young and a bit inexperienced, they made up for it with attention and care. My only small complaint is that the dining room is showing some wear and felt a bit forlorn. True, I am still missing the comfy, more casual setting of the old location down Wisconsin.
Sushiko remains the standard for top sushi in this region. They not only have the best food, but best service, and a delightful vibe.

The quality of the fish, and for that matter all the ingredients, is top notch with selections from around the whole and fresh, fresh, fresh. Daily specials are indeed special. Best sushi in Chevy Chase Bethesda hands down!
Dry old fish which is unacceptable for sushi . Disappointed .

Sushiko is surely the best sushi restaurant in Montgomery County and better than most in DC with only a few exceptions. The quality, creativity and presentation is excellent. Rhe quality of the sushi is top tier. The sushi bar area is a long arc, very well designed and oriented. It's definitely the best part of the space. The main restaurant table space is a bit lacking in ambiance with only a couple/few booths and tables quite small and close together. I like that there's a small parking garage as well as a lot right nearby and they do validate.

Go to restaurant for celebration sushi! We loved the creative takes on classics like duck gyoza and their spicy chirashi. All the sushi was exceptional—particularly the omikase assortments—our group had both the sushi assortment and the sashimi. They looked and tasted fantastic! Service was very friendly and incredibly efficient despite being in the middle of a very busy Friday evening. The manager came and checked in on us mid-meal and it definitely made us feel cared for! Thank you Sushiko for always being a fun and delicious place to celebrate!
Best in the area. Period.
