Don’t usually leave reviews but this joint was exceptionally bad. The food was mediocre at best and service was rather sheisty.
P.S. they don’t have sweet tea.

We had a terrible experience. We stood and waited for a table on a Wednesday night for 10 min while the place was empty. It was very uncomfortable and strange. We finally got a table and the food was horrible. Nobody enjoyed their food. It came out inconsistently, and an order was forgotten/ missed. I would not recommend this restaurant. The restaurant was decorated nice. Might be a good spot to grab a beer. But based on my experience Ill take my business somewhere else.

I heard Clarksburg Tavern has great fish and chips. As a native Midwesterner I know a good fish fry when I find one. CT delivers!

Two very large pieces of Atlantic cod battered and fried crispy and golden on the outside and remained flakey and moist on the inside. Absolutely perfect!

Their fries really stood out as well. Crisp exterior and very nice potato texture and flavor on the inside. Onion rings were pretty darn good as well. I will certainly return for fish and to try other items.

Portions were so large I will get two, and maybe three meals out of everything.

This was previously Bennigans. They retained the menu and the process for the Bennigans food. The Monte Cristo is an amazing sandwich! The staff were fast and friendly.

I’ve waited years to try this place. For those not from clarksburg and you pass this place on the way home, continue to do that. Bartender was nice, but very fake uppity nice. Like she was forced to like people. Actually, everyone seemed that way. The wings use straight hot sauce it tasted like, no authentic seasoning at all or a desired flavor. And literally no one inside. I couldn’t even talk to the bartender because she was too busy on her phone. Oh and they attach a ton of taxes to the customer instead of the business taking the cost. And they use paper straws. This place screams what the owner likes and not based on customers.

Bottom Line Up Front: We recently tested Clarksburg Tavern to see if they could be part of our regular takeout rotation. While we appreciated their efforts, the experience was more complicated than expected, though we may consider giving them another opportunity if they refine their process.

For context, Clarksburg is a small, sleepy town, and on this Thursday at 4:30 PM the restaurant was not busy. I placed my order through Grubhub for pickup. When I arrived, I gave my name and described the order, which matched the slip sitting at the counter. That wasn’t good enough. The staff insisted I show the order on my phone. Fair enough—I went back to my car, grabbed my phone, and showed them the confirmation. Still not good enough. They demanded an order number and told me to check my email, but the Grubhub app doesn’t clearly display one. After working a long day, my frustration grew as I made yet another trip back and forth to the car to get my wife and her phone.

The owner explained it was her “policy” and did apologize for the inconvenience, but the process still made what should have been a quick pickup more challenging than necessary.

We order takeout frequently and are accustomed to straightforward pickup procedures, where a name and confirmation are usually sufficient. A slightly simpler system—such as accepting orders by phone—could make the experience much smoother for customers.

Bottom line: Clarksburg Tavern shows potential, but the current pickup process could benefit from streamlining. We may consider giving them another chance if improvements are made.

My family and I, a party of 6 visited this past weekend while out of town. My brother said the buffalo chicken sandwich was good, but it was ok. The portion of chicken didn't cover the bun. Buffalo should be spicy and this wasn't. The mozzarella sticks had no cheese pull to say they were fresh. The pretzel was good though. I asked the waiter if they did the birthday song and he says yes. So I'm not sure why he came back and asked me the freaking times if I still wanted it. Finally I said forget about it. That was a one and done for me. I 10/10 do not recommend.
