We did carry out and ordered shrimp and scallops platter with fries and greens, shrimp scallops and catfish platter with fries and extra hush puppies, and catfish and shrimp platter with fries and hush puppies. I started the fish and it didn't taste like catfish. Thinking it was me, I asked my husband to come over, and without trying it, he said you're going to ask me to taste the fish, it tastes just like mine. I was like okay. So it's not catfish. Nope. I called and spoke to the young lady who took the order. She swore it was catfish because they cut it down the middle, and she checked, and they sold a lot today and no one else called to say otherwise. I can't attest to why they didn't, but fried at home, ordered from bus boys and poets, milk and honey, granny or my mama or auntie's kitchen, fried catfish, baked catfish, blackened catfish always tastes the same with variation on seasoning. Texture and fish taste is the same. Caught fresh when grandad catches it. Cooked and served at different church gatherings for Easter or whatever, fried catfish tastes the same. This. Was. Not. Catfish. It didn't even have the signature ripple of catfish.
I appreciate that the young lady offered to let me swap it for something else if I wanted to bring it back. It's a great solution to offer. I said no though because my mouth was tuned up for catfish, so nothing would have substituted; plus, it was already an ordeal getting there since our entire community hasn't been cleared of snow. I would have been livid if the retry was worse.
But taste wise, the fries were good because I like the boardwalk fries feel. Fried foods themselves didn't gave much taste in terms of seasoning, so sauces are absolutely necessary.
I won't say I won't go back, but I also won't say I will. Been in Clinton 8 years, and this is only the second time I've eaten there. I'm not missing much.

The sides are okay. The collard greens are tough. But the fish is really good.

I ordered the whiting fish platter fried. The food was bland and unseasoned. Fish was fried well however. Platter options were not good in my opinion. Won't eat here again.

Usually love this place...but the seafood was salty, and not worth the price.

Food was good, I enjoyed it!
Crabs are typically good. I brought large males this week —it was light and watery… definitely a waste of money. If you ask the staff if the crabs are heavy they tell you the same thing each time “no complaints “… prices reasonable.
I always go for the oyster 🦪 plater with lake trout.
I have had their Blue Crabs, but I'm not a traditional MD'er. I prefer crab legs.
Blue crabs seem to be more of a social thing and I understand why.
At the end of the day support Prince George County's small businesses.
Also, the owners are very friendly and welcoming. So I will continue to support.
I’ve been going to Captain Pete’s for quite some time now, and let me tell you—it never disappoints. The food here is consistently top-tier, and you really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. My go-to is usually the whiting or trout sandwich—fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right every single time.
When I’m in the mood to switch it up, I go for a platter—either whiting or trout, sometimes both—and occasionally add shrimp to round it out. The platters come with perfectly crisp, golden press-cut fries and a side of classic coleslaw that balances everything out. It’s a winning combo, every time.
Whether I’m grabbing a quick bite or treating myself to a full meal, Captain Pete’s always delivers on quality, taste, and consistency. Highly recommend!
For the price they charge and the portions they serve is questionable, I ordered the croker, the fish itself was good. That had to be a kids plate, the fish is Xtra small. And for 21.00 you would expect something different, won't be back, landover rd the real croker dinners get your money's worth
