This is my favorite dining hall at UMD, and it's also the smallest. There is no chance you won't find a table, and it's not too loud or bright in there. They have a smaller selection of food, but they still have a make your own salad bar, burgers, halal, Italian, and a rotating selection of Jamaican, Haitian, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, and Southern food. It's really good food too, they've had swordfish multiple times, a delicacy!

The cafeteria is always clean and well-organized. Food choices are varied, portions are generous, and everything tastes fresh. A convenient and reliable place for a good meal.

This place is great for free Maryland dairy.
Opening hours are flexible for late students, as they’re open until 10 PM MON-THURS. Warning: they close at 8 PM from FRI-SUN.
Breakfast here is satisfactory, with a plethora of options from cereal to pancakes to waffles to fruits to eggs to occasional muffins.
Sadly, I can’t say the same for dinner. Don’t get me wrong, they have many options such as a salad bar, Italian food, burger section, and some foreign food (usually rotates between Levantine, Indian, and Oriental). However, the pizzas are thick and lack variety, and the pastas also lack variety. Also, the foreign food is not as tasty as other cafeterias. Furthermore, the burger bar stopped providing Vegan burgers in spring 2025, and those burgers were delicious.
Having lived in Denton community from 2023-2025, I often ate breakfast here, and sometimes ate dinner here but slowly stopped, and saw myself no longer eating dinner here by April 2025.
My recommendation: eat breakfast here, it is tasty. Try out dinner sometime, but I recommend the Yahentamitsi.

This is on a college campus so a little noisy but food is good
gatekept the mint chip and tacos
Nice dining hall. They have The Dairy ice cream right next to the entrance, which was a pleasant surprise. They also have the soft serve ice cream machines that the Y does here.
Less busy and MD dairy ice cream!
The food isn't as good as Yahentamitsi nor is there as much selection.BUT it's much less crowded and it has real ice cream and milkshakesBeing less crowded makes the experience of eating there much more pleasant than Yahentamitsi.

Great diner to eat at. Clean and fresh food always! And great customer service go check out the 251 Diner
At a staggering $3,000 per semester, or a “mere” $9.50 per meal (if you eat three meals a day), you "can" (or rather, have to) purchase a UMD resident dining plan; it's as if they believe food is an extravagant concept best left to those with trust funds, but the highlight of this culinary extravaganza is the ability to essentially pay someone else to defrost your $3 Trader Joe's meal for you.
Good vibes
