Volcano ramen is 🔥. Gyoza yum. Sushi fresh and yum. Nice dishes, good tunes, staff friendly. If you park in the lot across the street you may have to play frogger with traffic 🐸🚘

Unfriendly on the phone, didn’t receive any meat with my ramen. The to go portion seems so small compared to the price. The broth didn’t even fill a quarter of the bowl

Local Japanese restaurant near The Mall in Columbia and I wish I had tried it out sooner.

Parking is across the street in the mall parking lot. Just be careful crossing the street.

Atmosphere is bright and welcoming, the decor has warm tones of nature with distinctive touches to let you know that you are in a Japanese restaurant.

Their hot bowls of ramen are very popular. Handmade noodles! Keep them coming!
Most bowls of ramen come piping hot to the table that the server needs to wear special gloves. All of the ingredients were presented to appeal to the eyes and very fresh. Each ramen comes with a delicious flavorful broth and in generous portions to fill anyone who is hungry.

Dipping sauces went well with the meals. We had two preteens and they loved the ability to mix and taste a variety of flavors and textures. The birthday girl also happened to get a cute complimentary dessert.

I would definitely come back, perhaps during a less busy time of the week. The service was quick, helpful explanations were easily provided and the prices were quite reasonable.

Kid-friendliness: Family and kid friendly. Forks are readily available. Chicken katsu is better than chicken nuggets.

The server and the food were excellent. The server was very attentive and accommodating when I couldn't figure something out (first time at a Ramen restaurant) and was very patient with me. I would definitely recommend this place for the service and food.

First time eating authentic ramen. It was really good. It was hard to use the chopsticks at first but I got the hang of it but the end of my meal. I ordered the spicy ramen, it was really good, had a nice kick to it. The service was good as well, they were very attentive

Definitely a must try.

I like this branch way better than the white marsh branch. This place can be busy but they are still able to manage their customers and the seating capacity.

They offer good variety of meals. They taste good and exquisit as well. ❤️ Now thinking about it. I always have great experience here vs dining in white marsh. 🤦🏻‍♂️ lemme give white marsh a 2 star review haha

Good service, really nice and pretty quick to get your food. The food itself is really good and the atmosphere is really nice.

Dietary restrictions: They have both pork veggie and chicken broth for whatever you eat or don’t eat

I have been to the Rockville location and it's a favorite and decided to try this location out. It did not disappoint and has a larger variety of non-ramen dishes. It has sushi and more appetizers than the Rockville location. I especially loved the miso clams. Downside is it does not have cocktails but it does have a good sake and soju selection. It's a different experience than the other location but in a good way. Both are great for different reasons and I plan on going back to this one to try more of the appetizers and sushi.

I recently dined at Akira Ramen in Columbia, Maryland, and overall, it was a solid experience. The standout dish of the evening was definitely the Tan Tan ramen. The rich, flavorful broth and perfectly balanced spices made it a delight to eat. It was clear that the ingredients were fresh, and the noodles had a great texture.

On the other hand, the shrimp balls were a bit of a letdown. They lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for and came across as somewhat bland compared to the other dishes.

The atmosphere at Akira Ramen is cozy and inviting, making it a nice spot for a casual meal. The service was friendly and attentive, which added to the positive experience.

While the shrimp balls didn’t quite hit the mark for me, the Tan Tan ramen more than made up for it. I’d definitely recommend trying the ramen if you’re in the area and looking for a satisfying bowl of noodles.
