Althea's Kitchen's products are inspired by the people and tastes of Jamaica. We deliver our food from a local food truck with sodium-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. We specialize in event catering from baby showers to Galas and offer an online shop where customers can purchase our amazing Jerk Sauces, over 10 flavors of fresh juices, authentic Jamaican Patties, and Wildcrafted Sea Moss Gel.Her food is authentic Jamaican food, the juices taste amazing and are so healthy for you. Her jerk sauce tastes amazing on just about anything.

I don't have a photo. But I was in the process of picking up a delivery and did not hesitate to grab myself a Jamaican spicy beef patty and a curry chicken patty.Hot. Fresh. Tasty! A must try.If you like spice and all things made fresh, this is your place. I'm on the go where finger or handheld foods are a good way to go. Especially when it's scratch.

Wow! What a great culinary experience! Althea arrived on time for our event and was had a beautiful personality! She was helpful in our set up and even filled in some gaps with missing plates/forks when realized we didn't have enough! The food...unmatched! Our team LOVED the cuisine and there was NOTHING that didn't go fast! If you're looking for authentic tasting Caribbean, this is it!

This is an absolute must-try. Everything's delicious. The food truck is parked outside where I work and I finally made it to try out their food. I tried the curry chicken meat pie, jerk chicken meat pie, and three of their amazing pressed juices. All of it was so tasty. It was fresh, the flavors were amazing, and it's all so well-priced. Add this to your list and you won't be sorry!!

Decided to go up to Ft Meade for there food truck Wednesday and try some Jamaican food. The food was excellent but somewhat overpriced $25 for oxtails is on the high end. Service was excellent. The beef Pattie's are under whelming with little filling and were extremely dry, and also in my opinion overpriced at $5 per patty. Overall coming from a food truck the serving size was enough for almost two meals. I plan on trying the brown stew chicken the next time I go.

the short - honestly I was a bit disappointed because I believe Althea's Almost Famous recently won award(s) in the Howard County Best categories for best food truck and best Black-owned business for 2023. The jerk flavor is good, but I expected a bit more especially considering the hype around it.The service is ok - nothing that stuck out good or bad, but that's pretty on-par with what you typically find in a food truck environment. Althea's has a decent amount of hype/reputation preceding it, so you typically find a decent line for the truck. The menu is impressive. They have Jerk chicken offerings (platter, sandwiches), with curry options (including goat), and a whole bunch of side a la carte items (e.g. beef patties). They all sounded great, but I opted for the staple Jerk chicken entree. It came with about 3-4 pieces of chicken mixed with drumsticks and thighs. As a fair warning, the chicken is prepared in a way where it's the type where the bones are kind of small and if you're not careful you can bite into it (which personally I'm not a fan of, but I know a lot of people don't mind). The entree (and all other entrees) come standard with a side of rice + beans and a cabbage "medley." This is kind of where the disappointment happens. The chicken was good in flavor (warning: spicy means spicy here) and was cooked tender/juicy. The rice + beans were pretty unimpressive and the cabbage "medley" consisted of steamed cabbage and a few slices of carrots. All in all, the total came out to be a little over $18 which seems extremely steep given what comes on the plate.I was probably left more disappointed because of the hype around the business. For context, my experience was at the Food Truck Friday's event in front of the Elkridge Fire Hall where there are a lot of great trucks that participate, so I don't know that I would necessarily pick Althea's next time. It wasn't "bad," but given what I got, it felt underwhelming and expensive.

I've heard a ton about this place, so we were excited when they showed up at Food Truck Fridays in Elkridge. I loved that even though they are a food truck, they set up an ambiance with a canopy and music. It definitely made for a more fun experience. We enjoyed the chicken. It had great flavor and spice levels and fell off the bone.We weren't impressed with either of the sides though and wish there would have been options we could get for sides.

They were one of the truck vendors at Columbia Lakefront on July 4th. It was a great opportunity to gain more customers, but it was an epic fail. The way that the orders were packed was without any urgency at all....I didn't understand why they were so slow. Total wait time was 45 minutes. The curry chicken patty was just as dry as the outside of the patty. Just. As. Dry. The inside was almost like a biscuit. I paid $16 for Curry Chicken. I received 2 pieces of chicken, however, it was the part of the chicken in which it was bone on one entire side...the underbelly part of the chicken. 95% bone. Rice was undercooked, the cabbage was cool, but the carrots were still super crunchy.

Not authentic Jamaican jerk chicken & rice n peas. I was at the Reggae Rise Up Festival yesterday. I purchased jerk chicken “spicy sauce”, rice n peas, NO cabbage with extra rice n peas. The rice n peas tasted like minute rice, the jerk chicken did not have sauce really, no spice/flavor factor. Never seen/smelled cabbage like that either. Assumed I wanted white meat to up charge when you clearly need to specify if you want white meat on their menu shown and got charged $30. I threw it away. I thought I’d be safe looking up the reviews before purchasing but the reviews did me wrong. As soon as I saw a review about their Jamaican grandmother loved it on here I was sold, but I know for a fact my Jamaican boyfriend did not approve and would not eat it when I brought it home and offered it to him.

Order the J*** wings and subbed the fries for Mac and cheese… the food was AMAZING!!! The j*** wings had like a dual taste to it which was new and very enjoyable. Spicy j*** on the skin with some kind of lemon taste on the inside. I wish the Mac was a little cheesier but still had its own flavor profile and bits of chicken in it! I recommend the mango juice as well. Very think and refreshing. I am not sure where they normally operate, but I tried them in fort Meade on Wednesday 5/24.

I placed a catering order for a Mother’s Day dinner and was very pleased with the food. My Jamaican mom really enjoyed the food. We got brown stew chicken, j*** wings for our entrees. Everything was well seasoned and delicious. The food was piping hot and ready to serve when picked up. I would highly recommend and will definitely order again!

Can't say that I've had a more underwhelming experience. Got 3 of their Jamaican pocket sandwiches at almost $4 a piece. Dry with little to no meat. Don't waste your time or money.

I'm so mad, when I came to this food truck there was no one in front of me. First of all it's 2023 and they have no vegetarian entree options. So I ordered a veggie patty and a spinach patty. I waited for over THIRTY MINUTES. I just simply don't understand. They kept telling me come back in 5 minutes it's still in the oven. Come back in another 5 minutes. Come back in 2 minutes etc until I was SO ANGRY. People after me kept getting their orders and I was just waiting and waiting. If it was going to take more than 30 minutes to get a damn veggie patty I wouldn't have ordered it. They should have let me know in advance, all they needed to say was "hey so we don't have any ready and it will be 30-40 minutes until they are ready". Just be honest, it's not that difficult. When they gave them to me they were still undercooked, I had to throw them in the air fryer when I got home.
