Hunan Manor does a great job, even by Chinese restaurant standards, of having a good vegan menu. You can’t go wrong with anything. The free tea at the start of the meal is a nice little bonus! Updated from previous review on 2026-03-18

This place has been around for as long as I can remember, and I’ve lived in this area for 30 years. It’s quite beautiful inside, and they have large rooms in the back with round tables that spin for parties that order a ton of food and wants to share. The service is pretty good and the food is also great.

Great experience!

Went on a Monday at 6pm. Wasn't too crowded

My typical go to for chinese food is Hot/Sour Soup and Beef Chow Fun (or Ho fun) and thats what I got during this visit. I was also surprised this place serves bubble tea so I got the Brown sugar bubble tea

In addition, they offer dim sum during certain times (which I hope to try one day)

Very clean and cool looking establishment. Love the statues and interior decor

Waiters were attentive and checked on me often

Hot tea was good

Hot and Sour soup was a little warm. Wish it was hot like the tea temp, but the flavor and the wonton strips were solid

Beef Chow Fun
Hot and fresh! Enough to serve 2-3 ppl. Very good, needs hot sauce to add a little kick

Brown Sugar bubble tea. Solid as well. A bit on the sweet side, but I enjoyed it

Overall, I recommend this place and look forward to trying their dimsum one day along with other dishes

We decided to stop at the restaurant for a quick bite at the end of evening. We chose carry-out, what a big mistake! After ordering, we waited for our order. During the entire wait there was an employee on the phone de dealing with a customer complaint. This should have been a sign to just leave, but because it was late and we had already placed our order, we stayed. Once, we were at home. I opened the bag, and the food had a very strong aroma. I'm not sure what they cook their food with, but it must have been oil grease. Needless to say, I did not eat all of my food and will not be patronizing this restaurant again.

We went the day after Christmas and I was expecting it to be packed. We went early to avoid the rush, but there wasn't really any rush that we saw. The food is great there and I never go there as often as I want to. The staff was great just like it always is.

I brought several people there for the first time and we got spring rolls for the table. With the rolls they delivered some horseradish mustard. I like hot mustard but that stuff has always been strong. I warned the people at the table that it was strong, but every person that tried it wished that's they had listened to me more about the horseradish mustard.

I used to love this place. I haven’t been in a couple of years because I have a favorite Chinese place that I always go. However, I was in Columbia for an appt and went here for the convenience. I am sorely disappointed at how bad everything was and wish that I had driven to my favorite place 20 minutes away. The only thing that was palatable was the rice, but it was on the bland side. The beef and broccoli was extremely mushy and slimy. It tasted like it had been stir fried in cornstarch. The crispy beef was overcooked. The orange chicken was very tough, dry and barely any sauce. Never, ever again.

Ordered online and the wait for pickup was 2 hours.
Orange chicken and Gen Tso’s chicken was dry and full of orange peels. I shouldn’t have to pay for orange peels.
Veg fried rice was dry, almost crispy and flavorless.
Egg foo yong had no flavor.
Not impressed with service or taste. Will not order again.

This was the worst experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had. That is no exaggeration. I walked in with a family of 6. We sat down to 6 cups of water, 3 straws, and 3 menus. We ordered our appetizers, which came out in a respectable time(The only thing they got right). We ordered our entrees, and after 30 minutes of waiting we watched another family sit down and receive their entrees before we got a single one of ours. When we finally received our food, they brought out our food one by one in 15 minutes intervals, leaving us to eat without each other. Once they brought the food, it was barely warm, and honestly probably the worst chinese food I’ve ever had. The waiter rarely checked on us and filled only some of our water occasionally. While eating, a horrible christmas caroling family began to sing directly behind our table. Getting the check and taking our money was the only thing they did in a timely manor besides the appetizers.

Have not been here for 10 years! It was good!

Stopped in on a whim with friends after Happy Hour in Columbia for the Holidays. It was a Tuesday night and we were seated quickly. Plenty of hot tea which is very nice. I am a shrimp toast aficionado and there toast is a 7.5 out of 10 which is pretty good.
All of our entrees were on point save for the General Tso's chicken which was a bit over-cooked -> not terribly but overcooked all the same.
The service was polite but not overly friendly.
The portions were humongous like most Chinese establishments. Three of our four took food home. Finally the pricing, especially for Columbia in Howard County is very fair for what you are served.
We are seldom in this area but would happily return if we are.
