Went for restaurant week. Full sized appetizers and entrees, so for a party of 4 it was a remarkable amount of food and a great value. Really nice ambience, and never felt rushed.
I stayed at the Merriweather Lakehouse hotel 12/31 - 1/1 and planned to have dinner and breakfast at Lak but I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the dinner and breakfast! I would NOT have stayed at this hotel if I would have known the dinner came with a Pre Fixe Menu and the breakfast was buffet style. The Pre Fixe menu was horrible for us! The entrees were a surf and turf, chicken, shrimp and grits, and a Risotto. I do not eat red meat or chicken, and I hate risotto! My friend does not eat shellfish and who is in the mood for grits on New Years?!? Not us! Needless to say when we went for our 8pm reservation and saw this menu, we had to go back to the room to get our coats and find a nearby restaurant because we wanted fish. This was inconvenient to have to leave the hotel in 10 degree weather when we had no plans to leave until the next morning!! You all should definitely consider a fish dish for a pre fixe menu.
The breakfast buffet only had pork options! Yuck! I asked the young lady monitoring the buffet about turkey sausage but she said they did not have any. Also the pancakes, eggs, and potatoes were room temp. I like to enjoy my food HOT and this is why I avoid buffets and would not have paid extra, when I booked my room, to get this horrible breakfast. It was not disclosed on the website when I booked that breakfast was a buffet and dinner was that pre fixe menu. Now, if you eat meat, you would have loved it but it was not good for us! I had plans to get the rockfish and my friend wanted the salmon. :(
Also, our server only came to us when we first sat down to ask about drinks and did not come back until she saw me stand to leave. I wanted coffee and OJ mid way through my meal but she never came to see us! It was not disclosed on the website when I booked that breakfast was a buffet and dinner was that pre fixe menu. Now, if you eat meat, you would have loved it but it was not good for us! I had plans to get the rockfish and my friend wanted the salmon. :(

It’s our new favorite breakfast spot. It doesn’t feel like a hotel restaurant. It is beautifully decorated. The food is always made fresh. But the best part is the staff, specifically Anna. She is friendly, efficient, and always makes you feel comfortable and known. I highly recommend.

Terrible experience and false advertising. All marketing in the room says restaurant and bar are open until 10pm and 11pm respec, yet both were closed at 9pm. Staff was rude and unhelpful. Not recommended.

Booked a room for a Saturday evening. Upon checking in at 9:10 pm, we went to the bar to grab a drink to settle in. The bar tender was there and a gentleman was at the bar having a drink. The bar tender turned us away, stating the bar closes at 9 pm. Great, so we went to our room. Inside was various marketing materials that noted the restaurant is open until 10pm and the bar/lounge open until 11pm. So I came back down to confirm. Firstly, both were still closed. So I went to the front desk to inquire — they noted things were a little bit slow so they closed up early. Yet numerous patrons were coming and going continuously throughout this experience.
What a joke. This place is garbage.

First time eating here as all the Chinese food, restaurants were booked on Christmas Day, quite surprised by the ambience, food and service. Order the cauliflower steak, which was surprisingly delicious! The blackened salmon was also delicious as was the pumpkin Roulard dessert
Excellent place to visit with friends and family. Food was large portions. Excellent value.
I planned for an engagement at the lak and the staff was incredibly helpful and courteous. Hope and Mel particularly went above and behind to help me have an unforgettable experience! Thank you!

It was our anniversary and they provided complimentary glasses of champagne! Plus a shuttle to the Symphony of Lights Christmas lights which skipped the long line to get in. Shuttle driver was super friendly as well as dinner staff.
Lak Columbia was a wonderful restaurant for Thanksgiving! They put on a great buffet. I wish that they were open for Christmas, too.
It was good. Service was good. The seating was very comfortable. Nice space.
The short rib dish was delicious, especially the mashed potatoes. The melange of mushrooms was veries and very good. The carrots were nice, too.
This dish could have been a great dish. Edit the portion size down a bit - it was very large (I cannot imagine eating this whole dish if I had ordered an appetizer, for example). Also, the overall dish was underseasoned.

Lak never fails to impress! Everything there is always yummy! Best Brussels and lychee martini around!
Great restaurant with excellent service and an inviting atmosphere connected to the Marriott hotel. The food was good but not excellent. Our group tried the short rib, seafood pasta, steak, and rockfish Oscar style - which stole the show.
The crab dip, poke nachos, and calamari were all good appetizers.
Our server, Brad was very attentive and made excellent cocktails. Overall, the atmosphere was nice but nothing to rave about. It might be better in the morning/day when the lake is visible.
