Fine dining Indian restaurant with tasty food options.
Large parking lot and so I had no problems with finding parking. I don't recall if we made a reservation but we didn't have any problems with getting a seat. I used to live in the area and have never been here but so glad I was able to come here.
The food was delicious and the service was top notch. We ordered the Shami Kabob for an appetizer and then I ordered the Goat Biryani and Garlic Naan. The Shami Kabob was well fried and not oily. It had a really great flavor. I loved the Goat Biryani and they do warn you that it has bones in it but it did seem more bone than meat. Overall, the flavors were amazing and the drinks were very good. I would definitely recommend coming here and service was definitely notable.
Very tasty food with a lot of flavors, each dish had its own flavor profile, everyone was very friendly, elegant setting
I was impressed the moment I walked in. The atmosphere is royal. It felt like we walked into a well-preserved castle. The food was amazing. Every bite was flavorful and the goat cheese Naan along with the lamb stuffed Naan were perfection. The service is unmatched! It's a total royal vibe and you feel like royalty from the moment you enter to the time you leave. I suggest you run, don't walk and treat yourself to this dining experience.
From the moment we stepped into Royal Taj, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth, elegance, and authenticity. This restaurant doesn’t just serve Indian food – it delivers a full-on cultural and culinary experience.
We started with the samosa chaat, which set the tone perfectly: crispy, flavorful, and layered with the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy. It was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh ingredients.
For our mains, we ordered the Malai Kofta and Shahi Paneer, accompanied by chili garlic naan and garlic naan. Every single dish was exceptional. The Malai Kofta was creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced – the koftas were soft and melted in your mouth. The Shahi Paneer had that royal touch – subtly sweet, aromatic, and cooked to perfection.
The naans were honestly the best I’ve had anywhere – soft yet slightly crispy around the edges, with just the right amount of garlic and chili heat. You can tell the breads are made fresh in a tandoor with a lot of care.
The ambiance is classy yet welcoming – dim lighting, traditional Indian decor, and comfortable seating make it perfect for both romantic dinners and family outings. It feels upscale without being pretentious.
And the customer service? Absolutely top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server made great recommendations and checked on us often without being intrusive.
Overall, Royal Taj lives up to its name. It’s a gem in Maryland for anyone craving authentic, high-quality Indian cuisine in a beautiful setting. We’ll definitely be back – and we’ll be bringing friends next time!
Simply the best Indian restaurant around!

A nice authentic Indian restaurant. We tried Bhindi masala, fish curry, Dal Makhani, and Paneer Bhurji. All flavorful but not “hot” spicy. For dessert, we tried Gulab Jamun, Kulfi, and Rasmalai; the latter was my favorite!
Parking: Free parking is right by the restaurant.
Kid-friendliness: They offer plastic water cup and cutlery which my daughter was not a fan of. She wanted the “fancy” ones everyone else had ?

AMAZING food and service!!!! The servers and especially Benta took time and effort to interact with guests, made sure I was celebrated for my birthday and provided the best service throughout our meal that is sadly rare to find these days. Food portions aren’t huge but everything was seasoned to perfection. Drinks are great too. You’ll enjoy for sure!
