Our waitress was very curt and hurried. She physically took the menu out of my hands when I was having convo with another member of our party because I guess I had finished ordering. She may have been having a busier night but we were celebrating a birthday and she lit the candle on top of the dessert twice and it kept going out due to an air vent. She unapologetically remarked about the vent and went about her business. Another waiter came by and re-lit the candle so we could take photos and videos. Overall food was good but service of that particular waitress was not.
We had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to get a table, started out not great. While walk-ins were being told the wait would be 45 minutes. Our server was excellent. Most of the food was excellent. The only drawbacks being the cornbread was overcooked and very dry, and the crust surrounding the chicken pot pie was excessive. The filling was excellent however. The ribs/potates/cole slaw and burger were all excellent also.
I came to Glenwood's to meet a friend and rediscover each other after 30 years apart. Glenwood's was the perfect choice of elegant, yet not stuffy, ambience, nicely diverse menu, good wine choices. They understood our need to just have a slow and relaxed time, the service being attentive yet not intrusive. The end of the story is we were at table for seven hours and could've stayed even longer. We really loved the experience at Glenwoods.
We came to Glenwoods in Columbia with our 21 year old son. They refused to serve him even though he has a MD state license that clearly indicates his age. I was disappointed that they would discriminate against him. I no longer recommend patronizing this restaurant.
We have gone to our share of restaurants in Columbia and around the state. Glenwood's, by far, surpasses the best of them. Live music, professional and attentive wait staff and the most delicious food at won't-break-your-bank prices make this a great dining experience. You can't go wrong here!
Excellent fillet cooked has ordered, medium, rare, sides were spinach, and mashed potatoes. Outstanding impossible burger! My husband said it's the best.
We had a birthday dinner for my wife last night at what is currently called Glenwood's. We chose this spot based on many wonderful experiences there in the past. This visit was significantly different and could most generously be defined as 'disappointing'. We arrived for an 8:00 pm reservation made days in advance and were escorted beyond the comfortable, dimly-lit dining room to a brightly lit area I would assume is the "patio". There were a total of ten tables there - one occupied by another couple, and one by a family of six. After what I would consider a longer than expected wait, our server came to the table (she never did give us her name) and asked if we had questions, and proceeded to take our order. Shortly after she left, another employee came in and started stacking the chairs from the unused tables. Now, in addition to feeling like we were seated at the kids table for Thanksgiving, we were being subjected to that disruption. It felt like they were approaching closing time (we arrived at 8:00 pm) and were eager to get ready for the end of the day. We managed to flag down our server and asked her to have it stopped. It did, but another employee then came out and proceeded to place candles, utensils, placards, etc. on the empty tables as if they were expecting other diners. ???? While the food was excellent, as always, the slow service, being felt like we were being given the bum's rush and the poor seating were too much. This will be our last visit. There are far too many good choice in the area to put up with that low level of an experience. Very sad
Love the location of Glenwood's in Columbia. We used to go weekly, but things have gotten in the way. We miss our barkeep Oscar - the best ever. My husband and I brought a dear friend who was treating us as a thank you. We have always enjoyed the live jazz, that was the initial draw, next Oscar in tandem with the food. The drinks were great, but no foam on my whiskey sour (you know there is powdered egg whites these days if you don't want to use raw egg whites - right?), and no orange slice to go with the cherry, oh well. The 10 oz. prime rib was perfect it came with green beans. At $35 would have liked something added - rice/polenta/etc. The requested horseradish sauce was lacking, sour cream, no horseradish detected. My husband and our friend got the special - short ribs ($42), piled on top of delicious mashed potatoes with very thin RAW carrots stacked up around the short ribs. It was accompanied by the SALTIEST gravy, must have been salted three times in the kitchen, my salt loving husband almost choked. The plates were cold, the food was cold, and carrots were hard, plates were were sent back. The carrots never improved on the second try, my husband had me take a taste, yep, RAW carrots. Must have dipped them in hot water for a minute and out to stack up against the cold short ribs slathered in salty gravy. To finish the meal we had chatted on the way over about the French press coffee. NO MORE, they did away with it. We did still enjoy the most delicious whipped cream to put in the coffee along with a shot. It is almost like ice cream. The manager came over and spoke with our bartender/waiter (we sit at the bar for the jazz) and offered free drinks on the first round and a second side dish. We accepted the offer. We are Woodfire Club members, what a terrible surprise. Cold food, raw veggies, no French press coffee...We wanted this to be such a great evening of great food and friendship.
Glenwoods is always reliably good. Food is outstanding and waitstaff polite and accommodating. Had lunch to catch up with an old friend and was able to sit for a while after we completed our meal to visit.
Outstanding and attentive service, all of the food choices were superb. The best calamari! The Keylime pie was outstanding. Nice background music while dining, great portions and we were all very happy with the experience.

Food was great- Service from Joey was spectacular! The noise was awful because we were sat in the back patio while a table of 15 were giving speeches- so loud!
Ordered the calamari, but not what I was expecting. Seemed like it was those frozen rings and not fresh seafood. Disappointed for the price. The service and ambiance never dissapoints.
Had an excellent meal, but was surprised that they ran out of rolls and the swordfish special by 7 PM. Dining area is very noisy once it fills up. Did not acknowledge a birthday celebration dinner in any way.
Very chill restaurant. My friends and I really enjoyed our dishes and our waitress Lisa was great.
Definitely recommend coming here for a nice meal. Excellent food, service, etc. Great drinks. Reservations recommended
