I come here any time I want a really good whole snapper or rockfish. I challenge you to find fresher whole fish anywhere in the area.
In case you are new to the whole-fish game - You can tell a fish is fresh by touch, smell and sight. Gently press on the side of the fish with your index finger. It should spring back very quickly. If it smells fishy, it's not fresh. The eyes should look crystal clear, not cloudy or sunken.
Like others have mentioned, this is not discount seafood. If you want cheap whole fish, HMart is where you want to go, but it won't hold a candle to this store in terms of freshness.
The staff are a pleasure to deal and always clean the fish super well. Yes, you will pay significantly more, but to me, that's worth every penny!
